7hi: where to buy in EU?

Ha, ha - agree. Just checked with a friend of mine - the same
situation in Brussels, Hague, Aachen - the same situation - out of
stock. But 7i is available - looks like pushing to sell 7i.

Plamen
Hey, this is probably paranoid, but could it be that they are less keen to sell in the places with the 2yr warranty? After all that implies a bigger liability and hence a smaller profit margin.

In any case I got a reply on Friday saying that my 7HI had shipped on Thursday. Exciting news, though its Monday and its not here yet.
Hope it doesnt turn out to be a 7i by mistake.

If it works out then its good news: Ordered on Friday 22, shipped the following Thursday 28!

Actually I can only advise against buying from NY-camera. They are
helpfull until you have paid them if you then have a problem they
don't care anymore and the support is non existant. I also talked
to that same Graham sevral times and send several emails but they
just didn't care that the brand new camera I got was defective. I
could send it in for repair and wait a couple of months to get it
back and even see if it was under warranty (Ii'm talking a brand
new camera here). No way to swap it immediately which should be
standard when they give you a defective product. They just didn't
care because they had my money and that was all they wanted.
Service forget it.
Hi SlipStream,
What about Brussels? Is the D7Hi there expensive or out of stock?
(It is not clear actually what brand/model you have in mind).
BTW, can you advise some search/price comparison site in Belgium?

Hi antonov

The D7Hi is pretty expensive in Belgium if you are going to buy in shops. The pricing they use in Belgium is muchn higher then in our neighboring countries. This goes for about every brand of camera's you can find. My mail was specifically to advise not to buy from NY-Camera.de as although the pricing they use is good and they do deliver in Belgium but the service is horrible and nonexistant. They just want your money. I do have good experiences with http://www.computeruniverse.net (1399€) and with http://www.topvision.lu (1487€). (both do give after sales service unlike NY-camera)

A search and comparison site you can use is http://www.tweakers.net/pricewatch/cat/62 its not specifically for belgium but in alot of cases it uses shops wich will deliver in Belgium.

rhubarb,

Ny-camera - a guy here posted a negative opinion - let's hope you are lucky. After your previous message I dropped them a letter. And guess what - no reply - who knows... Did they give you a tracking number?

Germany is simply too big market to be overlooked. But it is quite strange - nobody complains of problems in America - 1 year vs. 2 years warranty... I asked a friend of mine in Highland Park, NJ, USA (a small town) to check with the nearest store - yes the camera is available - $1199,95.

sales of 7Hi. Too many 7i and too few 7Hi. More awkard is that the USA market seems to be well feeded, but not the european one. Perhaps Minolta care less about the EU market. Anyway, I'm thinking seriously to change my order for the 7i. I'll wait until thursday and then i'll make up my mind.

Hmm bit of a worry. Mine was shipped from Germany Thursday. Tuesday now and no sign of it. I've sent an email asking about tracking and confirming the address. I'll call if its not here on Thursday.

Do you have a URL for the bad opinion.

Fact is of course, that getting the camera sooner or later is no test of the company. Especially since I'm paying COD so they don't have a penny (sorry, eurocent) until I have the camera.
The real test comes the first time I have a problem with it after I have paid.

Yeah, it's completely available in the US. Strange. I don't know much about accounting, but I do know that outstanding warranty liability plays a part in caculating profit and earnings per share etc. Still this seems a little paranoid.

Ugh. I just read the posts in this thread you were referring to Plamen. "After sales service, non-existent. Now I am worried. I can only hope it turns out alright.

I can only say I hope you will be lucky. I feel a little bit tired hunting for that camera - simply nobody wants my money :-)) Received some address of a shop in Aachen, Germany. Their web site says in stock, dropped them a letter - no answer - looks familiar? Santa Claus will come with empty bag

Just called the shop mentioned in Aachen, Germany ( http://www.ac-foto.com/ger/kontakt.php ) and got a simple answer of a simple question: "Is D7Hi available?" - "No, unfortunately. May be the next year. Too pity!"

Got it yesterday. Yippee.

Summary: Ordered on Friday November 22, shipped the following Thursday November 28, arrived Monday December 9.
So far it seems great.

Surprised about the bank transfer thing. I was told, in almost exactly the same wording, that Cash On Delivery was the best way. Depends on the country you receive in. COD costs me 10 euros more - but at least I didn't pay until I had the box in my hand (though you can't open the box and check it out before you pay - so it's not like buying in a store).

Let me know how you get on.
cheers

rhubarb.

Hey Plamen,

the long waiting has an end - got mine on thursday the 5th. Nice machine! Unfortunately I have only a little time to spend with my cam due to the xmas stress in my job. The first five pics are in my gallery - taken with the 5600 flash.

Congratulations! Now we all have to wait for the pictures.

In my case they have mentioned the bank transfer instead of COD most probably because of my country - I asked if they can ship to Bulgaria. So most probably ny-camera.de has doubts if they can get their money shipping outside the 'Iron Curtain' to the country of hackers, bla, bla, bla... :-))))))))))))). But I don't like the idea to pay 100% and wait if they are so kind...
Anyway, congrats again and will wait for the pictures.

Hello folk,

I am waiting since october for a 7hi I ordered from a German
e-commerce site but noone seems to be able to tell me when it will
be available, so I just wonder if someone could tell where in the
European Union one is supposed to find a 7hi available with a good
pricing, via web or otherwise.

Thank you FYA

Mine arrived last wednesday - I ordered it at http://www.vienna-camera.com/ .

They ship to Austria, Germany and Italy. Right now they are out of stock, though (but try to e-mail them, they sometimes forget to update the shop page).

Sorry for all, my english is very very bad!

Enhorabuena Amando.

Gracias,

Jesús

Have fun with your new camera and pray you dont have any problem with it as thenny-camera will probably not help you in anyway just like they did with me. Delivery was fine but service horrible once they had my money.
