Hello!

I am coming from an P&S background, but got a bit more ambitious over the years. About 2 weeks ago i decided to get me a Nex-5, and am really impressed with it so far.
Last week i had a nice opportunity to try it during a trip to Rome.
All were shot with the 18-55 kit lens, PP with LR3.

I dont't assume anyone would call those pics any special in an artistic point of view, but i'd really like to read what you think about them and maybe give some advice considering composition and/or PP.

Hello.

Imo, there is TOO MUCH color and contrast, which I don't like...

Hi mate two replies two different views, I like the strong colour to each his/her own.

A great city very busy, but you have managed to find some gems here. Enjoy your Nex you are off

Agree, the balance between photography vs digital art has been lost. They're no longer photograph.

I like the compositions and the scenery a lot, absolutely beautiful stuff but I have to agree with former posts as the pictures do look overprocessed in one way or another.

I really like them. Out of interest, what sort of PP did you apply, and what camera configurations did you use? Did you adapt the contrast/saturation in camera or in PP? And how much (if at all) did you use the camera's HDR mode?

Personally I like the picture with the Alfa Romeo best. Great shot and nice filmy atmosphere.

Thanks for your opinions.

I understand that some dislike the strong PP. I personally still like it, but get your points. I don't think i will overdo it that much in the future.

I played a lot with blacks/fillight, used strong clarity and vibrance on most.

I used the Vivid Setiing in cam, contrast/saturation in PP. Pics 9 & 13 were done with the color-priority mode.
I used the Auto-HDR mode on pics 1, 4, 7 and 15.

I like your shots. Good composition. I agree that the PP is a little excessive apart from the police shot which was good use of partial colour and the bottom panorama which has lovely colour but not over the top.
