OT: If I edit my posts it will say something like: "Edited at 7/11/2011 5:03:55 PM, 7/11/2011 (GMT)"

Under your post it says: "Moderated on 11/07/2011, reason: Other"

"Moderated", is that when a moderator (like you?) edits his own post?

Or is there some chief dpr moderator somewhere in the background, watching what you guys, his employees, are posting and who now and then decides to "moderate" (make changes?) to these posts?

I do not see this either in threaded, or in flat view, with or without the signature.
Strange, I can see an added note, just below the text box, to any post (including my own) that has been edited.

I'm now editing this post as a test, to see if the note appears. Unfortunately, due to the "one time only" edit restriction, I cannot add any further edits after this one.

that´s as long as you are in standard membership status with limited access; once you upgrade to premium you can see it in both threaded as well as flat view.

Very often all it takes to upgrade is some new reading glasses! ;-)

Beneath my previous, edited, post it now says "Edited at 7/12/2011 7:18:37 AM, 7/12/2011 (GMT)"
Can you see that?

But that is nothing new, always has been like that.

yes, your post shows as "Edited", just like mine when I do this, but not as "Moderated".

Also interesting, in "Moderated" the date shows the German way, day, month, year (11/07/2011); in "Edited" it looks like 7/11/2011, month, day, year, the English way.

Is the "Chief Moderator" in charge a German, lol!? Lars Rehm? ;-)

You are joking, aren't you? Since when did DPReview have two levels of membership?

I can see the "edited" or "moderated" tag, both in "Flat" or "Threaded" views.

Well it is easy to see now when I have been told where to look at.

I am admittedly not good at such things :-(

First rule of premium membership: you don't talk about premium membership. If everyone has heard about it, then it would no longer be premium now would it? Premium membership costs 3x more than regular membership.

Yes, got really expensive since they moved from Royal London to Capitalist Seattle!

Must be the reason why my bank refused to transfer my fees to the US. Not really sure why, but they said they ran into problems transfering the precise amount of my membership fees. ;-)

More accurately, dd/mm/yyyy is the European way, including Britain. The other way (mm/dd/yyyy) is not English (but rather is American).

actually I wasn´t sure about Britain, that´s why I decided to keep it more general and said "English". ;-)

In a German letter or mail it would be 12.7.11 today, a little more formal would be 12.07.2011, but 12. Juli 2011 would also be o.k.

And one should nit mix the intermediate characters (. -).

... it is the American way. In England we use dates in day/month/year format. Don't forget that the British and the Americans are two peoples divided by a common language!

Interesting Review!!

Is the G3 giving better image quality than the Olympus E-5???
Seems like its clearly better with ISO
slightly more resolution
and more dynamic range

yes, Big Barney, but sherwoodpete already told me about this.

On the other hand, if a German talks about "English" or "the English way", you never know if it´s about American English or British English or about the American way or the British way.

So if I say "the English way" it can mean "the American way" as well as "the Britsh way" or even both. And both is wrong in this case, that´s correct.

But it was not my intention to hurt any patriotic feelings here, neither British nor American, lol!

René

PS: But not to make the entire thread an OT one: What DOES hurt my feelings is to see that this G3 has no AEL button! And then it only takes another sentence like this one: "Yet the small size of the G3, combined with its significantly reduced hand grip, does place limits on the types of lenses you can comfortably use with the camera", that´s enough for me to know that this is just another new camera that will NOT be a suitable upgrade for my old 520 and all my old manual lenses!

I wouldn´t mind the EVF and everything else, but if the body is smaller than my 520, I´m done with that camera! And back to the idea of maybe buying that expensive E-5! Why can´t one of the m4/3 manufacturers build something with all that nice new technology in tool size, not toy size ??? Grrr!! I would even accept to live with all the new nonsense I do NOT need: video, "art" filters, touch screens, thousand scene modes, etc.!
