3) here is a link to a very talented photographer that has extensively used the D2H:

Both are great cameras. The D2Hs is noticeably cleaner. There are many comments and reviews of these two and a bit of time researching is well worth it. While the D2H is great, the D2Hs if more refined in a couple areas. The used market value of these two bears that out. The D2Hs still commands bucks, the D2Hs is falling far down in market value. There is also an endemic problem with the D2H, in fact there are two. One is that very weak infra red filter. There will be lots of situations where blacks can take a greenish overcast due to the lack of a strong filter over the sensor. Vegetation will also take a nasty yellowish overtone. The solution is a very good IR CUT filter. I bought one and it made a world of difference. The devilish green cast if almost impossible to PS out.
The sensor on the D2Hs has a better filter over it and the IR contamination is virtually not there anymore. The other problem with the D2H is it will take a shot then display ERR. Take a shot then display ERR. Nikon has a blanket factor service bulletin on it even today. HOWEVER I have read that while a cam is up for Nikon service they will service it according to the service bulletins for free, BUT they like to COMPLETELY go over the camera and dont like to release it if other sub assemblies are showing weakness and in need of service, even non mission critical service.
All things considered, I do think I would hone in on a D2Hs, unless knowing the risks they are ok with you on a D2H.
I LOVE the general look of the D2H(s) LBCAST sensor. Thats why I keep mine.
Thanks for all your great posts over the years and good luck with your decision.
