Welcome to the Weekly Close UP, where the Who's who of macro come to play.

I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe holiday. My gear will be shooting fireworks instead of bugs, but it's always good to diversify.

Please post your close ups be they macro or not. List gear and cropping for those choosing new gear.
Post in reply to this as I will.

I had to back off the 35mm/ EC 20 combo to 1.5 to fit these girls in the frame.
E 5, 35mm, EC 20, FRF

this one is a crop

this one isn't

Thanks for looking.

I don't know how much I'll make it back today, so please have a fun and safe holiday.

Banished from our house after complaints from She Who Must Be Obeyed and the daughter...

For those interested in EXIF it was taken handheld (I know I shouldn't) with a GH2, Voigtlander 75mm lens, Raynox DCR250. 1/125 at ISO640. At a guess, the aperture was around f8.

Very nice. I love reflections in drops. Someday I'll have to dust off the tripod and try some.
Nice fly too, nice composition.

My tripod is in a closet somewhere, I guess I'd better dust it off. LOL

I am glad the spider was only banished so it can provide many photo ops to come.

I've been trying for a few years to get Downy Emeralds but they never stop moving. Last week I finally found a spot that they returned to rest and took these two so I'm really pleased.

I like the softness of the Silver-washed Fritillary and the Ringlet

All 70-300. Someone on one of these posts recently said that hadn't considered the 70-300 for this type of work!

Very Nice Trevor. I bought the 70-300 for it's close up abilities where it is very sharp.

those are really emerald eyes on the dragon fly,, # 2 really shows great repetition of that color in the leaf. I don't believe we have that species in the US. Did you use flash?

Brad Ross
The first has flash but I don't know if it has any effect at the distance. It doesn't look a lot different to 2 which didn't use flash

Very nice, I may have to get one.

I did get a 250 and tried it on the 70-300 but it gave a head shot of a bee that was extremely close and short of DOF. I'll have to try it on the 50-200.

That's a nice combo. Also, the EC20 with the 50mm ZD gives you some tack sharp captures....Really dig #3......
