As we all know by now, ricoh has bought pentax.

Ricoh have their own small and compact mirrorless solution...do u think they will be interested letting petnax develop a k-mount mirrorless that will compete in-house?

Does not make sense, now does it?

K-mount lenses are designed wit a specific distance to the film/sensor. Removing the mirror.... will NOT change that distance!

Exactly like MFT, which needs an extension tube to use 4/3rds lenses. Exactly like Sony NEX, which needs an extension tube for A-mount lenses to be put on (and lose AF in the process).

645D, and APS-C ( hopefully in the future FF also ) DSLR consumer end DC from Pentax, Mirrorless and up market DC from Ricoh. not a bad idea, and its also highly feasible to keep both brand ( their namesake do worth )

Actually, I think the most important thing need to do with PENTAX are :
1. DO ADVERTISING!!!!!
2. Built FF system
3. Built FF zoom lenses (14-24mm f/2.8, 24-70mm f/2.8, 70-200mm f/2.8)

4. More PENTAX store (hard to find Pentax equipment in Indonesia, China, even europe)

if u just sell the company to another company but not doing things above, then the result in the future would be just the same as it used to be (sell PENTAX from one company to another company.......and so on!!!)

An i-EVIL (integrated EVF) model which is fully Kaf2 mount compatible via an adapter makes a lot of sense to me. Personally I crave a NX form factor body.

Why a mirrorless k-mount DOES MAKE sens:

I am not talking about using k-mount lenses on it...it will have its own bayonet (but one wich can accept k-lens's via adaptor)

The mirrorless k will have its own lenss...especially PANCAKES!

imagine having the option to slap a 16mm, 30mm, 55mm pancakes which combined with a slim body would give you tad-smaller size then the non-AF slrs of the 70's..which i find are the most joy to use,

besides that, you could snap a zoom lens and end up with similiar abilities like the dslr's (with one exception that it would be uncomfortable to mount huge 300mm f2.8 lens's on it)

This kind of system would make perfect sens for me.. i'm shooting with primes, a moderete 16-80 zoom, and thats all i need, i do not see an excuse to own an oversized modern DSLR for that kind of lens's
Does not make sense, now does it?
Pentax planned it, but ditched it and made the Q instead.

But I agree - a K-mount mirror less does not make sense.

I'm seeing a Kmount APSc adapter for the GXR in my crystal ball!
Clever purchase Ricoh.

So... how exactly does that make it a mirrorless K-mount??

When it has its own mount, it is not a K-mount.

How are you going to make a 55mm pancake which sits so close to the sensor??? Even 30mm is going to stretch it.
besides that, you could snap a zoom lens and end up with similiar abilities like the dslr's (with one exception that it would be uncomfortable to mount huge 300mm f2.8 lens's on it)

Why the wait? You can mount all these K-mount lenses on M4/3 and Nex. Why don't you do it?

I think your crystal ball is probably accurate on this one. Some of those small Pentax primes would be really nice on the GXR.

I think you should RMA your crystal ball...because there k-mount unit would be HUGE and way to bulky for the GXR body, even with a pancake, it would be 50mm long just for the sensor+flange back distance...=no way will happen.

I'm betting they'll make a K-mount for the GRX, just like they did for M-mount. I predict it will be weatherproof as well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ln91Hk_gccE

M-mount is a mirrorless&compact lens, plus flange-back distance is much shorter then the k-mount lens,

a kmount adapter would be kinda huge, even withought the lens, i'm not seing that happening and if yes, then no one will buy it once they see how illogical and impractical itll be

And the K-mount confusion continues ...

When Pentax is talking about K-mount they mean a K-mount, and nothing else. So - when someone says that a K-mount mirror less is a crazy idea - then they are NOT talking about a thin mirror less camera with a K-mount adapter.

The difference in registration distance is only 19mm (3/4"), not a big deal.

Ok... first of all, which flange distance are you comparing to exactly? An imaginary one?

2nd... 2cm is a very big deal, it is the difference that will again make the camera/lens as bulky as lets say a K-m :P.
Totally defeats the reason to get rid of that mirror.

Pentax will not have a FF camera, ever. Why oh why do people never let this go?
