Currently the Panasonic GH2 is out of stock at those two stores. John Lewis has it in stock, but priced much higher. Will JL pricematch either of those two stores without much hassle?

Only if it's a JL local to the mathers or srs shops I believe (does srs even have a physical shop?)

Plus JL have a habit of stocking a subtely different model or sales pack to others, and so they avoid having to match prices. This can be a simple as offering a different warranty!

Yes - SRS has a great shop in Watford - quite big too. One of those proper places with lots of kit and tons of secondhand stuff. They're the biggest Pentax dealer in the country, but also sell a fair amount of other brands incl m43.

When I bought my GH1 from John Lewis in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire,
they price matched Mathers, Lancashire but they did check that Mathers had
it in stock.

Another important point is that JL will only price match retailers with a street presence, i.e. not online-only retailers, or online-only prices/divisions of street retailers.

Support the independants or lose them!

I bought my G3 from SRS, they were cheap. helpful and have mountains of well price second hand stuff in their shop, well worth the 2 hour journey for me.

They will PX your old gear or act as an agent to sell on at a better price.

If you value service and dont want the problem of dealing with a faceless internet retailer when it all goes wrong... this is how I prefer to purchase new kit..
