Smoky Mountains - Tennessee - Pics with HS20

Photo, great series. Like them all. The deer and hawk do not show up as full zoom. It may have to do with the forum software.

I was wondering that same thing. If a bear it seems very young and you seem very close, generally not a good thing. Perhaps it is in some sort of enclosure I'm not sure. Nice enough shots, if I was to offer something it would be watch the lines in the EVF to keep the camera level.

What is that strange animal, half bear, half dog?

It was a yearling Black Bear. It looked a little under fed. It was in the wild, no enclosure and I was about 10 feet from it.

I know some of these are over-exposed. I was trying different setting to see what worked the best. Your suggestions would be appreciated.

Here are some general suggestions.

Put that camera in manual this will alow you to set the fstop and shutter speed yourself

Set the camera to the lowest ISO possible for the situation ... keep it on the lowest ISO if your images are taken in good light

take some test shots at the ISO and fstop you want and change the shutter speed up and down till you get what you are looking for. You can do more with an under exposed image that a blown one

Take more than one shot each time at differant shutter speeds

Take a LOT of shots (if you can)

Put the grid on your display so you can keep your shots level

If you are in auto modes use EV to help exposure - EV would have helped some shots

go to http://www.fujimugs.com and join the next challenge it will push you to start thinking and doing and you will end up learning and having fun while you do it

These are very nice. A little dark but its good to start out that way rather than too bright. I would just keep doing what your doing and let the camera figure things out. That seems to work. You can put them in Picasa and tune them up at your leisure. Very nice, some of the best I have seen so far.
Foliage is even sharp at higher ISO and NOT SMEARED.
Great looking family too. Have fun.
