I have a friend by the name Alex Masters who is professional photographer here in Bermuda. If you don't know Bermuda is a small 21sq. mile island in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean approx. 720 miles off the coast of The Carolinas. I've watched this young gentleman grow in a very relative short time in photography what may take some people a life time to achieve. I've looked at many photos on the web and many professional photographers websites. I may be bias but I really think his work is impeccable and deserves to be viewed by a wider audience, an INTERNATIONAL audience. Please take time to see his work both in photographing and editing an let me know what you think. Like I said I may be bias, but I think his work easily stands out.

Gulp! Excellent, and thanks for sharing them. No shortage of light out there and the wedding looks like a riot. His timing and framing is impeccable IMO and I hope he does well - I imagine plenty of folks go to Bermuda to wed. Just having another look - I rekon he'll be cross with himself about the lighting or positioning of the group in the last shot - up until then my jaw was slack and I hardly thought about it. I assume he bounced something bigger than a speedlight up under that canopy. still, perhaps there was a pole behind him and he couldn't back up any further. His presence throughout, right in the thick of it gives me the feeling that his people skills are right up there with his photography - it looks like almost everyone is happy to play for his camera - I wonder if that's in the editing - does he just not show the reluctant subjects? They are beautiful looking people too, which helps, but I'm super impressed by the enthusiastic rapport he maintains with his clients throughout.

--Same BS as on many other shooters. So many shots with overexposure washed out whites and that Canon yellow cast but this days its called ART.

Yes, he has captured the mood very well but some galleries I looked at there are far too many blown highlights. Some of the group shots I looked at, the brides dress had no detail at all and are very over exposed. Also the tint/ processing is a bit of a matter of taste and may become a bit dated in years to come.
He really managed to capture the mood and feel of the wedding very well !

I agree that the tint is a matter of taste and personally I don't particularly like the blownout bits (at least not on the majority of shots), but that is something that the photographer can easily do differently, getting the mood and feel right is far more challenging - as my wife likes to point out to me !

Just had a quick scan of all the weddings and I could only find two or three images where the detail in the dress has been compromised. Which galleries were you referring to?

"I rekon he'll be cross with himself about the lighting or positioning of the group in the last shot"

The light was clipped by the edge of the canopy (which you can see in the top of the frame). Had the group been moved forward, they'd have lost the step — not sure I'd have been able to get any higher to get them all in with the spacial restrictions.

"I assume he bounced something bigger than a speedlight up under that canopy."

Single/on-camera SB-900.

As soon as you ask someone to do something, you become a part the wedding so, with the exception of about five or six of the posted shots, people were just being themselves. On the odd occasion I'll steal a group photo or two

see:

but I seldom ask for or arrange a photo, unless specifically instructed to by the couple (ie 'formals')

The group photo at the end was simply - before heading out - informing the bride that I had one exposure left on my card and asking what she'd like to do with it.

I keep around 85% of my shots. Those I cull tend to be due to eyes being closed or my camera, for whatever reason, missing focus (which seems to happen a fair bit in low light)

There's atleast 8 in this gallery http://www.alex-masters.com/shoebox/432254-990

I know it's difficult in these conditions, cloudy and bright, very flat light. My monitor is quite dark compared to what most un-callibrated monitors are from the factory!!

Love the feel sense of being there and overall capture of the moment. But colors exposure on many seem a little overboard, though that can be to some a matter of taste. Overall a set I'm sure the couple will love.

Yes, I think you are biased.
