Hello,

I made a thread a few weeks ago asking help for knowing the sequences to show the hidden service menus, that have much information normally hidden, like the shutter count, the times you turn on the camera and more

The thread have on the reply's the answers, I only had for the G1 at first, then discovered for the G2 because I bought the complete service manual and then posted here the section that explain the sequence to enter on the hidden service menu

Discovered sequences are on the thread for these cameras, G1 and GH1 (is the same) GF1 and G2, but if you have patience you may discover for the GF2 GH2 or even G3, because the procedures are similar only with small differences on the buttons to press, but it is a matter to follow the logic of the know sequences for the cameras I mentioned

The url for my thread that contain the solutions is here:

They were possible on the Olympus camera's I have/had.
Aleo, Thank you very much.

Not the exact combinations but similar. There must be a thread here on DPR in the Olympus DSLR forum about it.

Hello. I have discovered how to access the hidden service menus for the Panasonic Lumix GF2. They are slightly different from the other Lumix G series cameras, and not as described elsewhere. Here we go:

GF2 hidden menus and shutter count

You need to enter the TEMPORARY Service mode (there also exists a PERMANENT service mode).

For GF2 do the following:
1. Insert a memory card in the camera.Format it and take a single shot with the camera you are checking.

2. TURN OFF the camera. Push PLAYBACK and Q.MENU and RIGHT ARROW buttons simultaneously. While holding these two buttons turn on the power.

Now the camera should be in the temporary service mode. To make sure it is, enter the Setup menu (the one marked with "wrench" icon) and look at the very last page. In the service mode there will be a new item ROM BACKUP. This item is for saving the user settings to and restoring them from a memory card.

3. Push the Q.MENU button then simultaneously the LEFT ARROW and MENU/SET together. A menu will pop up with some info. You can scroll through the info using the Q.MENU button. Other settings are found using the up and down arrows.

4. Repeat the actions from item 3 once more. Now you will see the CAMERA INFO screen. This is generally the most interesting info:

VER: full software revision number
No.: motherboard's serial number
PWRCNT: Number of power on cycles (including exits from the Sleep mode)
SHTCNT: Number of shutter activations
STBCNT: Number of flash activations

You can scroll through the info using the Q.MENU button.

You can exit this menu system by turning off the camera.

I hope this helps those who have been frustrated by somewhat incorrect advice from elsewhere on the Internet about this.

Has anyone figured out how to enter the service menu on a GF3 yet? Its driving me crazy lol.

For that one I don't know, but try the combinations for the cameras revealed on the thread mentioned on the first post.

Ok, maybe a little help from the community then. Ive actually figured out how to get into the service menu but Im trying to get to the information page for shutter count (how is it that no one knows this yet is pretty crazy).

CAUTION. DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK. I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU BLOW UP YOUR CAMERA, YOUR HOUSE OR THE WORLD!

Step 1. Power camera off

Step 2. While holding down the PLAYBACK button and the Q.MENU button turn the camera on. You screen should display Service Mode at the top.

Step 3. This is where Im lost. You can hit the iA button to shift between modes. One particular mode shows a blue screen with a ton of acronyms/abbreviations TPC, PZM, ISO, SAT, LED etc, etc. Out beside each acronym is the letter F. I'm pretty sure this means "F"actory. If you press the Q.MENU button while one of the settings/acronyms are highlighted it will change the F to a 0 which I assume means not set/adjusted or reset to 0. If you highlight RESET and press Q.MENU it will reset all of the settings.

Pressing the RECORD/VIDEO button switches to another blue screen that shows you the display settings for Horizontal & Vertical and some other calibrations.

If anyone else is brave/smart enough to figure out where to go from here to get to the info page for shutter count Id appreciate it.
