Hi fellow Sony SLR forum folks.

I recently went to San Francisco for a work conference. I arrived on the Saturday before to have 2 days to just do my photography, plus every evening after the conference. I even managed to get up at 4am on the last morning to shoot the Bay Bridge.

I got 2.5 hours sleep, but I really feel it was worth it :-)

All comments welcome.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Grant

I really like it, the sky becomes really dramatic in the b&w. I'm heading there for a weekend in September and hope to talk my wife into suffering through some photography while we're there!

Take the scenic route! Life is too short to do otherwise.

A very nice image, Grant. I like the contrasts of the dramatic sky above the bridge with the placid water below it; and the modern structure arcing across the frame with the ancient pilings in the foreground. Very nice indeed.

That's a gorgeous B&W of the Bay Bridge from the Oakland end. I don't think I've seen better, well done!!! It's not a common view as most people shoot it's more famous cousin, the GGB.

We live near the Northern end of the GGB and when the light is right, pix from there can also be spectacular. When you visit us, here are views from the popular scenic viewpoint at Ft. Baker.

I have never been much of a fan of black & white. But this shot makes want to get out and try some. Just fantastic, I love it. I hope you print this and put it on your wall.

Great image, love the composition and the blurred cloud effect created by the very long exposure. Thanks for sharing this outstanding photograph.

Really great shot!

Hi there

I'm so glad you like the image.

My wife suffers alongside me sometimes, but usually I'm out there on my own (especially at 4am) :-)

Have a great trip to San Fran, you will love it there!!

That's my hometown that I haven't lived in for the last decade. Beautiful shots, thanks guys for posting.

Thanks for your comments.

Your images of San Fran are really awesome too.

Thank you for the pointers for when I am next in San Fran, I will definitely check out those vantage points.

Warmest regards,

Grant

How the long time exposure turns the water in the bay into a misty mystery adds to the composition and the B&W presentation.
I draw my hat!

... and apologies in advance, on my next visit I will copy that effort but maybe at 4 PM... ;-)
