Transend cards

The transcend are very good cards. But the warranty is only 5 years. If you can get the RIDATA 20x (equivalent to transcend 25x) for the same price or less, then the RIDATA is cheaper. Most the time the RIDATA 20x is the cheaper of the big boys (Lexar, too expensive!!,). All three brand are tested are perform at top speed on Nikon D100 or faster new cameras. I used all there before.

I now uses the RIDATA 20x 512meg, very fast & relaible indeed with lifetime warranty & cost only USD$190 in Malaysia. The LEXAR is priced 4 times more than the RIDATA, while transcend about 10% mroe than RIDATA.
Any one using transend 512 25x? pros, cons ?
Thanks in advance...

Someone else brought up this idea so its not mine and I dont want to copy from someone else... They said that after 5 years the warranty is allmost worthless.. Why you may ask? Well how much do you think a 256 or 512mb CF card will be worth in 5 years? Nothing.. I bought some memory 3 years ago for $100 and when it went out it cost me as much to ship it UPS as the memory would cost new!! We may not even be using CF cards in 5 years anyway... I think LEXAR is TOO MUCH... Good cards though.. I am getting Transcends... I dont know why but I get a better feeling about them...

I guess the only reason why i got my RIDATA is because it's 10% cheaper than the Transcend. I guess either one is good....

I've got one I've been using for about 6 months; works great, no problems at all. I use a Canon Pro 90 IS, so card speed is not a big factor.

I've got to agree with the analysis which questions the usefullness of more than a 5 year warranty because capacity will rise tremendously by then. My Pro 90 takes images around 1.2-1.3Mb for Superfine/JPEG, about 2Mb for RAW. So I gets lots of images/card. But a D60 runs around 7.5Mb for a RAW image, so a 256Mb card is equivalent to a 36 exposure roll of film. Card capacity/dollar is bound to rise; 6Gb hard drives were pretty large back 5 years ago (if they were even available); now they are practically worthless.

Most important.
Know your seller.
Will he replace your card if its bad??????
Forget about the manufacturer- He could care less.

Warrenty- In general if nothing happens in 90 days you're OK

After that it is generally operator error. You turned the camera off while card was loading.

Some years ago I got an IBM Thinkpad 755CD with 8mb memory, added a 32mg card lifetime warrenty Card cost $1950 lifetime warrenty. Well it lasted four years. Apricon replaced it overnite. At that time a replcement only cost $125.

When you get a new card- putit thru its paces.

Price- I don't get it.
I made the mistake of not knowing my seller.
Got two cards- Bad- Seller did not return phone calls or Emails.
Manufacturer did not respond to Emails.
Out over $400.

You asked about Transcend.
Just got two 512mb 25X from
http://www.mydigitaldiscount.com
Yes I called them
If bad they will replace from thier stock.
Spent two hours putting the thru the paces.

Read-write-speed . backward compatability, readability, work with card readers, PC card adapters, operating systems, camera, camera format, etc.

They passed.

The woods are, I mean the internet is full of venders anixous for your hard earned money.

I do know Lexar will replace and even try to recover your images, and also state that thier cards are all backward comptablie.
They even have a pro model with write acceleration.
You will pay for this. But.

Know your vendor.
