Not content with shooting from my bedroom window, wanted to get closer to my subjects. I decided that wearing dark clothing, and hiding in my small grape vine behind the pergola, would do the trick, managed to get about within 15 feet of these blue/great tits.

Been rumbled :D

Breathtaking shots, so full of detail. Could you post the setting you use and or did you let the camera choose. I am still getting some noise in my shots at a distance.

And the neighbor said to his wife:

"There's Alan, Again. Hiding in the bushes with that Darn Camera. Hurry up and put your clothes on!"
Nice pics...

I like these pictures. The birds look relaxed and natural. Maybe you can get some of them to come close to you if you bribe them with seeds or mealworms.
Would love to steve, i know we have a robin who lets us get close, but the tits are very nervous shy, birds but you know me where there is will, there is a way :D

They used to sell a bird feeding kit. Maybe still do.

It came with a lifesize cardboard cutout of a man and a shirt and a feeder that attached to the mans hand. You put the shirt on him and seed in the feeder and placed it out side near the real bird feeder. Every couple days move it closer to the feeder. When the chickadees got used to feeding from it's hand you put the shirt on and replaced the man holding the feeder. The chickadees eat out of your hand after a while. Did it work?
