If you have an iPhone, you probably know that it's impossible to take pictures of moving kids indoors. The iPhone seems to default to 1/15 or slower unless you're outside with lots of light. Why not AT LEAST give app developers the option to program manual exposure controls?

That is a good point.

But why not some kind of IS also?
is why they don't eliminate the stupid phone part of the gadget. Then they Could add all those necessary features, and we'd have a good P&S camera.

If you want to take photos of moving kids indoors, you need to step up to at least a compact that can take an external flash.

It's called an iPod Touch :-) Manual control still won't make it any good for pictures indoors with moving subjects. Maybe an external flash mount that uses the universal connector, lol.

Yeah, wouldn't do any good. Telling a cell phone with a little dinky lens to shoot at a faster speed simply means getting no picture at all. You need a real camera to do that.

Nah, I have an ipod touch, and the camera is way below the calibre of the one in the iphone. Really only suited for quick video, not for stills at all. Not even 1 mp for stills.

I think you just need to step away from the iPhone and use the Nokia N8. Better Lens, Xenon Flash and all the features that iOS 5 is bringing out are already there. AF/AE lock along with the grid, physical two stage button etc.
