Hi Folks,

Got a Pair of Russian Manual Lenses Recently and Decided To Do a ' Nostalgic ' back to the good old Days Shoot. Boy!... The output from this Russian lenses really Surprise me. Besides The Good Bokeh and DR , this lenses seems To Lift a veil off your pics when compared to those taken from todays Digital Lenses. The pics looks so tranparent, clear and Have a very Natural Look to it !!! Well, may be it's the coating, and boy it sure Compliment our 4/3 sensors so well.....A Pair Made In Camera Heaven !!!

It really does Reminds me of the good old Days again, and i am seriously going back to Manual lenses again. Here's some done with The E-520 & 620, and an Extension tube for those close up shots.

Just go out and enjoy your hobby today, for tommorow is promise to no one.....!!!

The Helios 58mm 44-2 F/2 on Oly Cameras.

Thanks for Viewing and Have a nice Day ahead ... !!!

Hi Crack,

Thanks Mate , and yes, it's an M42 Screw Mount . There are tons of M42 to 4/3 Adapters out there and they are cheap.

Thanks again.............James.

very nice work, I'm impressed about the image quality...time to use again my old Helios lens

I would not hesitate to use my Helios for Macro images.

Very sharp lens but more importantly : half-stop apertures and the longest throw focusing ring for really precise ... focusing.

It is too big to compete with my other old 50mm lenses (with shorter focus throws) for normal photography though so it stays in its little box in the cupboard.

I've thought about getting one of these, they seem to be very popular at the moment - I guess it's a lot of lens for not a lot of money.

IIRC these were mostly bundled with the old Zenit cameras.

Most seem to go for the 44-4, with better MC, but I think the 44-2 is easier with the manual aperture control.

Nice pics, they might have spurred me on here :)

Eeasier like "it has manual aperture control", or easier like "the manual ap. control on that one is smoother" ?

For all I know, all Helios lenses have an aperture ring.

Hi goblin,

I Think what Hewitt meant was that The 44-2 Has the aperture Right In front, hence a little easier on your Finger Movements. You're Right, All Helios has an Aperture Ring, the Later Models has it on the back of the lens ( The Standards Today ).

Thanks Again and Have a Nice Day Ahead........James.

No, I meant the earlier models, up to 44-2, had a manual 'preset' aperture, whereas the later models, such as the 44-4, are auto apertures, and need modification to stop them down on a DSLR.
