Location
Oslo, NO
Destination, Hammerfest Norway, 70 degrees N. All but the last shot where done with the Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 - manual focus only :D

Miserable weather the first day yielded one shot out the bus window - that white stuff is snow.

Day two was better, went for a hike up to the transmitter atop the mountain Tyve (Thief). Called so on account of it stealing precious sunlight.

Reindeer, these are all over the place, still kinda like 'em

More reindeer

Sorry, no view from the top - all shots had people in them, and I prefer not posting them.

Hurtigruten Polarlys - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hurtigruten

Atop Salen, a 80m elevation overshadowing the city center

View is great though

This is a local commuter boat carrying passengers and cargo to the surrounding islands.

Hurtigruten Nordkapp leaving

Last day I got a shot inside the church, the only one done with the 18-55mm kit lens.

I thought your pictures were fantastic. I really love the last one. Great colors. If I do a quick skip up north, I'd be in Wyoming. Pictures of prairie dogs and dust just aren't all that interesting. ;-) (oh, come on now.....I'm just teasing the Wyomingganers(?) )

Beautiful country, beautiful color. Lucky Norse people!

Great colors. We know why you don't want to show pics with people -- the controversial skin tone issue :)

Yeah right, it's beatifull alright for 3 months a year when is not covered by 6 feet snow, thick ice and temps that hoover around or below minus 4 fahrenheit..Lived there, now I live in south Sweden (not that it is much better) but if you don't like cold, stay away :)
Very nice pictures though.

The last one shows that the 18-55 kit lens ain't too bad !! Thanks for posting the set .. very nice.

For photographers it's the proverbial winter wonderland - with the blue hour all day long :D

Thanks, the Tammy certainly proved it's worth. Manual focus not withstanding, a stellar lens for the money.

The combo of the contrasty and sharp lens and 16Mp makes for some interesting magnifying possibilities.
Stunning work! Sharp as. The clarity of the air is a bonus, I guess, and the gear can take full advantage of it.

Well done.

I meant politically lucky compared to the looney bin in which I live :^)

Great shots. Did you feel at all restricted by the 28-75? My main general purpose lens is the Nikkor 28-105 and I often feel the need for more on the long end when shooting outdoors.

Really like this one.
Nice indicator of scale with the person in the kayak on the right. Is that moiré in the reflections on the ripples in the water?
And I love the sense of depth in this one. So much to look at.

Of course the Tammy can feel a bit restrictive at the short end, and not beeing an AF lens for this particular body. But I still feel it's a tradeoff worth doing concidering it's very sharp wide open - and is very light carrying around. I got it incredibly cheap as well, a store was selling them out for 18-105mm money.

The ripples, they are the reflection of the guard rail seen above.

Yeah, shooting that ship in portrait really get's alot of depth in the shot - nice thing about cities that are situated in bays.

Yes, the 18-55mm is a very nice lens for many reasons.

1) It's very small and light
2) Has a convenient range

3) Has VR, big plus when shooting video, and in dim light such as this churc 1/10s
4) Renders very nice colors
5) Has a pretty close nearlimit, decent for still life closeups

All in all a lens well worth hanging on to.
