Hello,

If all Sigma users got together and did a bulk order of the Sigma SD1, there may be a possibility of a volume discount of a few hundred bucks per person.

I am only guessing.

My back-up plan is to ask Donald Trump to invest in my artistic talents.

Hi!

Make it few thousand (with "few" being equal to five) and you will get your bulk order together. Count me in then!

There will be a discount later, anyway. Eventually, SD1 will be sold at $2000 and maybe even less. Just look at how previous camera models' prices changed.

Or if 10 people chip in 700 bucks each, a group could buy one and pass it around. Each would get it for up to 5 weeks a year for that special trip.

Each person would get it for five weeks, and then there's an auction for the two remaining weeks.

I wonder what the wholesale price is? You might be able to get that with a group buy.

The problem would be that we are spread all over the world so you would have to account for different tax regimes, import duty etc. That would almost certainly be the killer.

Thanks,

I vision a nice house in Spain available for summer- and other holidays for SUG-members. When you go there with the family or some of the SUGmembers you pay your share of the house and the camera with lenses. Zone8 might take care of the details :-)

And maybe apply for EU-support because of the international exchange possibilities inherent in the project... And support from Sigma, maybe even a complementary camera body..

Could be in Skagen at the Danish westcoast, very nice place. In that case Frits comes to mind as organizer ... he he

Hi there and congratulations IEBA1,

can you do an unboxing video of the SD1? ;-)

I can´t ask more as you don´t have Sigma SA lenses

I think your Panasonic GH2 would be excellent for the task.
