Case for 7Hi

The D7 is quite similar in size and shape to the smallest range of 35mm SLR cameras, such as the Pentax MZ-5 or the Canon Rebel with a 28-80mm lens on it. I bought the smallest size of the "holster" (sort of a triangular shape, with the tip at the bottom) type case they make for these cameras, and my D7 fits into it quite nicely, with the lens pointing downward. The one I have is named Point, but I think this is pretty generic. It offers both a belt loop and a shoulder strap. It has a semi-stiff plastic liner and padding, to offer good protection for the camera against bumps.

Thanks.

I have invariably found that after looking for cases for different cameras over the years it is ALWAYS Samsonite Trekking brand that seem to come up with the ideal best. The one I have is designed merely to hold the camera itself securely and with excellent protection. I do not need to carry in it any extras such as flash etc (it does have thin pockets ideal for such as an extra CF or a 4-pack batteries but nothing more bulky. This one is Model number D-F/V 2 and was bought for my Fuji 602 but I now find it is a near perfect fit for the 7Hi. I must say it IS a full fit - virtually no extra space at all but it DOES fit and gives excellent compact carrying AND excellent protection. After trying the camera all ways it is convenient that it fits nicely in a sort of upright position in the bag, with the hand-grip of the 7Hi pointing upwards and of course immediately ready to grasp to take out of the bag. Worth a look ...this is it ..

I bought the Tamrac Photo Explorer 2 (Model 5202). It holds my 7i, Oly A-200, filters, extra CF cards, remote release, and either a Mindstor or flash. It has a great padded shoulder strap and also a waist belt, so you can carry it however you want. Plenty of storage and padding. Picked it up new on eBay for like $25. You can view it at

Don't overlook the LowePro Nova Micro (not as small as it might sound).

It's smaller than the Mini, and yet still has a bit of space to spare.

I've got one, and I like it much better than the Tamrac Digital 6 (5696) that I originally bought. The Tamrac is not as well padded and the top cover does not zip up as the LowePro models do.

I'm very happy with my Tamrac Digital 6 5696. It's the perfect size for the camera, 3 extra sets of batteries, my microdrive and 3 CF cards, 2 filters, the lense hood, and a lens cleaning kit. I carry my remote and anything else I need in my tripod bag.

I use a bunch of the LowePro Street & Field Series stuff with my 35-mm equipment; it's very flexible and well made and you can mix and match components as needed.

Just got a 7Hi last week and bought the Street and Field Reporter 100 bag as it's primary home. Looks like it's going to work very well. Holds the camera, 5600 flash, remote release, 4 or five sets of batteries, manual, 5 or 6 CF cards, and reading glasses :) It has attachment loops on each end to take any of the add-on bags in the series and it has an all weather cover tucked into a compartment on the bottom that can cover the entire bag if you get caught in a rain shower.

tamrac 5696 retails for 31.95.. i just ordered one on amazon for 19.99 here:
