I don't want to spend hours and hours doing pp but would like some general tools to improve photos to get that "pop" look from a reasonable photo.

I'm not really into Photoshop and the learning curve that a large package like this brings.

I currently use Aperture 3 which is great for organising my photos and some editing and I am also currently trialling the AutoFX Mystical Suite which seems really good if a little expensive.

Any ideas please?

Is there such a suite that balances cost, results and ease of use?
 
Aperture is great you can do plenty with it. If some photos need a little extra processing you could add Photoshop Elements 9. It can usually be had for $60 (with rebate) and has more features than most people will ever need.
