BestBuy is not my best buy . . .

Extremely frustrated now. This is the second Saturday in a row that BestBuy said they had the camera available for ship to store near me, then failed on the indicated day. So I went punching in zip codes for major cities in the southeast (New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Jackson, Birmingham, Mobile, Atlanta, etc.) and everywhere get this banner:

I just tried it by looking up New Orleans zip codes in Google then using 70112 in the BB zip code search. It came up as shipping in 3-5 days.

I also tried it by entering New Orleans in the city field and selecting LA as the state and got the results: 3-5 days.

Maybe there was a temporary glitch on their website when you were trying it.

They all indicate that, all the time. Just click the "Select" button for any store and see what you get.
Yep. Plug in the Zip code, see all of the stores in the area listed, see the "SHIP TO STORE - Usually ships to store in 3 to 5 days" business, then just click on any "Add to Cart" button.

"UNAVAILABLE."

I tried zip code 70122, and clicked on the first few "Add to Cart" buttons, and every one was unavailable.

Trust me, those of us who have been able to order cameras have indeed had the camera "added to the cart," and then we were able to place the order.

And to think I was crying like a baby over the late shipment that allegedly still might happen some day.

You have my sympathies. Good luck -- hopefully we all will get our cameras eventually!

I just checked for you guys also. I am getting the same results, not available to ship to store. I checked, Slidell, LA, Gulfport, MS, Hattiesburg, MS, Mobile, Al, Spanish Fort, Al, Pensacola, Fl, Nashville, TN and a few others.
I am guessing that they have ran out of stock again.
Checked Amazon, BHPhoto, Adorama, sears showing not in stock, backorder.
SonyStyle backordered till June 13th.
Sorry guys.

So, it's out of stock everywhere. Whether mine will ever show up still remains to be seen.
Yours and mine may have already turned into someone else's. It could be worse. It might be a scarce inoculation for a deadly virus, or an oxygen bottle on a space capsule. If we get the cameras a few days late, we can still take pictures. With those other things, the delay would present a more substantial disadvantage.

You bet. I won't believe it until I've got the camera in my hands.

E-mail messages or not, I still intend to stop by my store every evening after work, starting on Monday. I don't want to wind up in any sort of "you snooze, you lose, we gave it to someone else" disaster.
Maybe they'll try to substitute an HX9V or even worse, a Fuji HS20, if we complain.

Here's a tip for getting them to honor a coupon with dubious eligibility or to take back a camera you don't like: Wait until about 20 minutes before closing time. They will be thinking only about getting off work and meeting that hot date on time (in as much as nerds ever have hot dates) and will give you what you want to get you out of the store. I got them to give me a full refund on a Sony H9, for no reason other than I didn't like its performance, by pulling that trick.

No thanks to either one of those!

I've actually had pretty good luck with returns at my local Best Buy. I'm definitely going to spring the 10% coupon on them -- if the camera gets here before the end of the month -- and I intend to yell and scream about the slow shipping if they give me a hassle about it. Damn, the least they could do is work with me on that coupon, given the hassle we've seen so far!

Man, I sure hope mine is actually on the Best Buy truck for a Monday night delivery at my local Best Buy.
Anyone get the ready for pick up yet?
Not I :(

Good morning,

This is my first message. First of all, thank you for your messages, because they are very usefull for choosing and knowing a camera. And for the photographs too...

I'm writing from spain, and here it's imposible to buy the new Sony HX100V by the moment. A friend of mine will go to New York (Manhathan) on 1st of June, and I'm considering asking him to buy this camera. I've seen in J&R and in BHPhotovideo, that they have it in Preorder, but in Best Buy perhaps it'll be possible to find it.

I have several questions and would be grateful to help me:

1.- Is it possible to know if they have this camera in a shop of BB in Manhathan?
2.- The prizes are the same that in his Web page?
3.- How much it cost the international warranty?

4.- which is the method to charge the battery? I say wondering if I have problems with voltage....

Thanks in advance for your help.

I have really wanted to buy this camera and start to enjoy it.

Regards!

P.S. Sorry for my bad english......

This is real hard to answer, but you can get the answer yourself from the BestBuy web page. Right at this very moment, one store in one area of Manhattan is showing available, as here:

However, you will have to check at the time when your friend comes.
2.- The prizes are the same that in his Web page?
For BestBuy, the prices have remained $399 for weeks.
3.- How much it cost the international warranty?
Sorry. I do not know.

Out of the box, the battery charges in camera only. However, you easily can buy an extra battery with charging cradle for not much money.
P.S. Sorry for my bad english......
Your English is very good. I cannot speak but two or three words of your language. :)

I live on Long Island, and no stores out here are taking orders, but I did see that the store in Forest Hills Queens shows available...I even went so far as to place the order and it seem to go thru where as they are also showing a store in Westbury, but when I tried to order at one point, my screen just goes blank...
Maybe you could call the store and ask them to hold one for you if they have it.

Jeannie, maybe you should set up a Paypal account and let these guys send you payment and you buy the cameras from Queens for them. Just a thought....

That sounds like a great idea, but after dealing with ebay it's not worth the risk...I got burt a few times with the customer decided to complain and ebay always goes with the buyer, never the seller.

Wait till a buyer send back an item with usps tracking on it. Then usps says it's delivered back to you, but the item is not in the package and you have no proof unless you opened it up in front of the postal carrier! There are all sorts of SCAMS!

Ha! Thanks, Bill. Tell you what. I am not a patient guy by any means, but I can go a long time if I am really focused on achieving a goal. However. I must confess that even though I thought my focus was laser sharp on this HX100V, I have been tried to the breaking point this go round. I honestly have never experienced anything like this HX100V "hide and go seek" marketing routine.

Driving me pure nuts.

If I was toying with the idea of bumping up to a DSLR, I would have parted company with Sony long before now, that's for sure. I just am not in that market. (I know my DSLR buddies just cannot fathom that last remark.) Of so many considerations, though, the absolute bottom line is that just one economy line extra lens alone would cost me what the HX100V would. Since I am slim on discretionary cash, I have a governor on my consumerism's impetuosity.
