Cusco Festival (fz100)

Fine series, Cristian :)... I like the composition of the shots... somehow you work in first pix on detail (very colorful) and than the last shot as a climax of the story is including the whole ceremony (grand total) and the beautiful cathedral plus far away mountains... geat job and thanks for posting :D...

Best regards,

Really interesting series, Cristian! What is the significance of the costumes? What was the festival about?

Thanks for that kind words. This festival was huge. Over 5000 people parading with their tradicional clothes. Besides they celebrate the international day of worker (May 1).
Best regards,

A pilgrimage to the mountaintop Sinakara. The greatest pilgrimage of all Native American nations. Over 10 thousand people come to Sinakara, at the foot of Mount Ausangate (6.362 m), to pay homage to a painting of Baby Jesus. The rise of a group of loving the snowy summit to seek the Star of the Snow (Qoyllur Rit'i) in the heart of the mountain is filled with symbolism. They take large blocks of ice on their backs in order to receive blessings and bring to their communities to irrigate their lands with holy water. Along the way, there is a procession, some dancing, bands, performances, fireworks and a symbolic market, Alasitas (works in miniature). This festival brings together two traditions - Andean and Catholic. In this party is prohibited drunkenness and sexual contact, a common feature of Andean festivals. Precedes the feast of Corpus Christi

This representation, in Cusco, is a part of this Festival. Besides they celebrate the May 1°, (worker day).

I hope that you understand me. My English is not the best. ;)
Kind Regards,

Lovely photos beautiful scape, the church, the colorful dresses thanks for posting,

Salvador

Easily one of the best sets every posted on here Cristian, an event in itself. The compositions and life in each shot is stunning, great stuff, something easily enjoyed as a viewer and fellow photographer. Kind regards. :D

Those words are encouraging, especially of a forum reference photographer. The experience we had in that place was comforting. Quite different to what we are accustomed.
Kind regards mate ;)
