Sony a850-price increase at Amazon !!!!

I have been considering ,over the last two or three weeks, the purchase of an A850. Last week Amazon UK had the body available at £1395 (lowest price I could see) so over the weekend I decided to go ahead and buy.

With that intention I visited their website last evening and simply could not believe what I saw: body only price-£2157 !!
Inflation or what-I certainly shall not be going full frame.

It looks like the A850 has been discontinued. It is not available at most retailers here - including Sony Style.

You should have bought at FOCUS at the NEC, Birmingham in March !

Sadly the NET is currently seeded with low offers for the Sony A850 but when you follow the links the price rockets upwards.

Yesterday, when I checked on Sony Style US, the '850 was listed but not available.

Today, it is no longer listed.

Could be the end for the world's first sub-$2k FF.

The a850 and a900 have been listed under "Professional Cameras" for some time at SonyStyle.

I noticed today that Sony Austraia have removed the A850 from their web site.

It does appear to be still available here in Aus. on a grey site that offers cheap products, for AU$1750.40 but shipping is a hefty $89.
Shipping overseas would reduce the purchase price by 11%. (No GST)

You're quite right of course, Graham.

I mentioned it because there was discussion about whether Sony considered the A900 a professional camera in another thread recently.
