Nicely done Andy. Brings back some not so distant memories. The office building in #5 (the tall one in the middle) - I worked in that building for about 5 years.

Yo Andy, as always, just pure pleasure from the otherside of the world ;)
Just loving my FA43 atm and getting more LBA for the other FA( ) lenses.....
Especially the 24, sadly not around much.

And the DA15? Just stunning.....thx mate!

Such great shots, fun to see.

When carrying three different primes around, how do you get over the inconvenience of swapping lenses multiple times a day? I just can't see it. Maybe it's a non-issue for prime owners. I just can't imagine opening the camera body to possible dust entry that often!

Andy,
  • Very nice composition and exposure choice in "No Finer Place."
  • Exceptional perpendicular layers in "Happy Again."
Best,
Kyle

Thx bud - glad you enjoyed these and they were familiar to you; you worked right in the heart of the city for sure. L.A. is so huge and crazy, but fun.

Nothing may be quite as 'unique' in the Pentax lineup as the FA43, but I think the FA*24 ran a close second; those two actually have some very similar rendering as well (very high contrast, wonderfully toned, almost surreal bokeh transition at times). The focal lengths are also very good partners on the street - giving you the ability to do everything from landscape to short portrait.

I like No Finer Place and Skip and Repeat. They both really capture the feelings of the subjects even though we can't see most of the faces.
+1 for that; those two were my favourites too, for the same reason. Keep 'em coming!
Best wishes

Hi Andy,

Yes, it's crazy and fun, though I was always a bit on edge working in a building that big that sat directly over the San Andreas fault. I think there were three different earthquakes (moderate) that I experienced when I was working - even in a mild earthquake, to actually see (and feel) a building that size start moving back and forth is pretty freaky.

Aside from that, I enjoyed LA.
