Can someone with a Panasonic 100-300 lens, give me measurements of the lens with caps on and the hood reversed?

I'm going to order a sliplock style lens case that would fit both my 45-200 and a 100-300, and don't yet have the latter lens. I believe the measurements I see on the web are for the lens barrel only, and don't include a hood reversed for storage.

Thanks

Now YOU prompted me to re-measure mine even more accurately, the outside diameter of mine is actually 3.447" and not the 3 7/16" (3.4375") I measured with a stick ruler...LOL...

My lens hood for the 100-300 measures 3 7/16" widest diameter.
Prompted me to remove the hood and measure it more carefully. Mine is 3 3/8". Odd that they're not the same size.
Possible reasons:

1. Same size but inaccurate measuring.

2. Lens hoods from different suppliers - there may be some tolerance in specifications.
3. Lens hoods measured at different temperatures.
4. Measuring instruments not equally calibrated.
5. Measuring instruments at different temperatures.
6. Lens hoods travelling at different speeds when measured. ;)

Thanks very much for the measurements.

I wonder if they've tried to cut costs by going to a flimsier hood. I have noticed that it can be hard to remove the reversed hood if I squeeze the thing top and bottom as opposed to on the sides, i.e., the plastic isn't heavy enough to prevent flexing when installing and removing.

The way I see it, it's better to have a little flex. A super stiff lens hood will crack and break, not flex. I think a heavy duty lens hood would also weigh more.

IMO Panasonic went a little too far in the flex direction. I've never had this problem with other lens hoods. Nor have I ever cracked one. On the plus side, at least they include the lens hood, which Canon doesn't do with their consumer lenses. Canon doesn't even provide a bag.

Its 9 inches on a GH2, so its about the same give or take a little bit on a G1

Mark.
Can someone, give me measurements of the lens with caps on and the hood not_ reversed of the panasonic 100-300 lens?

and another question

What is the entire length of the panasonic 100-300 attached to the G1 with hood not reversed? I mean entire length of G1 + panasonic 100-300 + hood

Thank You very much

thanks a lot, thats one answer.

could you please give me to, the measurement of the panasonic 100-300 lens not attached to the body but with caps on and the hood not__ reversed?
Its 9 inches on a GH2, so its about the same give or take a little bit on a G1

Dimensions of 100-300 Panny lens with caps AND lens hood reversed 142mm long 78mm diameter 9over lens hood, without hood diameter is 70mm.

Overall length with lens hood fitted 176mm.

Mine's 147mm long by 88mm wide (so 5.78" x 3.45"), with the hood reversed.
Cheers

P.S. used a micrometer
