Just give it a few days. Keep checking all the major stores. The D7000 (body only) is very, very popular. I don't know if the disaster in Japan has anything to do with it, but many Nikon products seem tricky (or pricey) to find right now. The D7000 is no exception.
I would bet that Amazon will have it again for the normal $1,199 price within a few days. Then all the other stores will drop their prices to match the $1,199 until Amazon runs out, then their prices will creep up again.
But if you're ready to buy, when you find it at a reputable place for $1,199, don't hesitate, buy it.
Frankly, I wouldn't pay a dime over the $1,199 MSRP. Not that it's not worth it, it is. But that's Nikon's MSRP. Anything more is just merchants being greedy. Of course, that's how supply & demand works, but there's no reason to pay more unless you're desperate for one
right now . Just be patient. You'll find one. At the 'right' price.
But if you
are desperate for one, the easily-found $1,499 full-kit price is better than $1,350 for body-only. You can get a couple hundred bucks for the 18-105 on eBay, if you don't need it.
Decided to pull the trigger on a D7000 but it's out of stock in most popular places that sell it at the $1199 plrice. Amazon lists shutterbug with 15 bodies at $1350, but that's a good bit more expensive.
My local store store said it's backordered waiting on units from Japan. Is this just delays from the recent events of mother nature, or is somethin going on?
