I've looked over the DoF apps for the iPhone and am not sold on any of them. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks.

The place for a DoF app is in the camera, integrated so that hyperfocal distance (as a for instance) can be self-setting on demand. The question that wants answering is why this hasn't happened already.

In between times, I recommend that we start asking camera makers when it IS gonna happen[?] Dammit, film cameras had a DoF slide rule engraved on the lens... what's the big problem with doing something vastly better with cameras that have a built in computer and viewscreen?

I'm posting this for future reference for others with a similar question. The best app I've found is OptimumCS

In the past with HDR photography I've set the f/stop at f/16 and then did the calculations for focus distance and depth of field or I've just guessed. With this app, it shows the necessary f/stop given the situation, which will produce the desired depth of field. In some cases it will be more open than f/16 such as f/8 or f/5.6 where there is usually better lens qualities and sometimes the "sweet spot".

I have not financial interest in this somewhat expensive ($2.99) app, but it's the best I've been able to find after research. It wasn't an obvious find since a search of the app store under "Depth of Field" does not turn this one up.
