Believe me, I am good enough to start my own week-end wedding business. I've got this beautiful camera and lens and people on various internet forums like my pics even when I don't like them. This says a lot.

Oh yeah, absolutely! I measure my talent by the number of positive responses my pictures get, and I do get A LOT!
We are in total agreement that it is the client that rules. Given that real clients love your photos (is that what you are saying?), would you mind sharing some samples for us to admire and learn from?
