I must say that im pretty impressed by how much I can push the pics.... No banding...noise didnt really go up...sharpness was still there(well for F8)

Original
6mm, F8, 1/2 a sec with ND filter, ISO100

Pushed 1.8 stops and filled a little(histogram centered). (Hows my processing BTW??? C&C? :) )

I dont know why the XZ-1 under exposed soooo much....I had in the A mode... I have quite a few under expose pics...

I CAN say that I would NOT have been able to do this with my old canon 7D...I would have had some banding issues...So I am happy to say the XZ-1 is banding free! :)

Ryan,

For what it is worth, I really like the image but prefer the feel of the first shot over the one you brightened. I think I'd like something in between even better, but that is speculation.

I'm glad a 7D photographer can be happy with the IQ of this remarkable little camera.

Yea....Well it was sunny out when i took the pic! :) I just exposed it to how it was supposed to be. Never said it was the best pic in the world ;)
But yep! Its a great little camera!

Ryan,

Hi combatmedic,

impressing push without blowing things out. Can you post a full resolution pic for a pixel peeper? :)

To the underexposure issue. Maybe the light metering was a bit fooled by the gray rocks, especially in combination with lots of green? Or did you have the same probleme elsewhere too?

Regards, Manuel

I will post a full size when i get off of work tonight...around 2 am :)

It wont be the EXACT same(I did a good amount of PP to get the most i could out of the picture). I deleted the original. I didnt think anyone would want to see a full size :)
But I will PP it again and get it done!

It was Just with this situation...so you could be right...

Ryan,

Hi Ryan,

I hope you are not sleepy anymore ;).

Well, if your PP didn't include any noise canceling it's fine. I got a theory about noise in gray areas and thought I could check it with your picture. Or was your pic OOC?

Ryan,

Thanks for uploading! I only found an 1600 pixel wide picture, did I miss an option or button?

Anyway, I like the picture and the little noise I've seen looks absolutely fine to me. In the green areas it gives the picture even a grainy look. I'm really getting closer to like noise.

Regards, Manuel

With 25 in NR it cleans up pretty nicely and still has plenty of detail.

Ryan,

There is enough noise to want to do some NR.... But with it cleaned up and sharpened it looks quite nice...If i took a better pic I would print it :)

I really thought the area in the left bottom corner would be worse then what it was.

Ryan,

Hm... my Browser tries to load a picture but didn't get it. No big problem, I think we pointed it out, thanks for posting. Had (and already have) a lot to do, sorry for the late reply.

Regards, Manuel

It's a pretty scene, and it held up well to post processing, I think the second one is a little too bright though.

Yea, You are probably right. My monitors not the best.
