Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anybody knows a good way to reduce noise in E-10 photos taken at 160/320 ISO. I've done some searching on the net, and found one website (Fred Miranda) who has a Photoshop filter set for sale - but before spending money, I want to see if there is a way of doing it for free. Has Olympus released any noise-reduction software for this? Any help on this would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Mark

Wrath,

There are a very strong set of actions by Ferenc called UltraIso aimed straight at Exx noise. These are conciderably better that the Miranda actions IMO (I have both). UltraIso costs $20 and is worth every penny.

See string below, a good set of examples of Ultra and other noise rejection programs and actions.

Thanks very much for your suggestions - lots of neat tools. This
should be all that I need. Much appreciated.

Check it out, you can download the demo version to try it:

But PS is not suitable for action shots, because you need perfect registration between images that you are going to combine. Ultra ISO is okay, but I wasn't thrilled with the results. So I created my own Photoshop actions to reduce noise, and they work for any single image. The result is not D60 clean but it's slightly better than Ultra ISO imo.

Haven't tried NeatImage since I'm so entrenched in Photoshop and my own actions... anything new would feel like a rock in my shoe imo ;-)
