I love the flowers, even though I think the lens is over rated. The only thing good about it is the 1.4 speed,,, it isn't a very sharp lens.

I would not say overrated or unsharp. It used to be a bargain at ~US$200-250 and equal or beat most 50mm normals from that era. Only drawbacks in my opinion is that it can lack contrast and sharpness at large apertures.

It seems like there is motion / shaking or you're not focus the subject well.

I also own a FA 50 f/1.4. However, my copy seems better at f/1.6.
I usually don't go under f/2.0 with it though.
At f/2.0 it's decently sharp and from f/2.8 it's great.
At f/4 it's stunning and few lenses can match its sharpness.

Nice creamy bokeh btw :)

Nice colors and bokeh! I have the same lens as well. Like other users here, I do not usually use it at an aperture more than f/2. But the bokeh seems pretty great here at f/1.6. The focus problems that seem, might just be resolution not upto the mark at this aperture (which is a known issue of this lens on APS-C digital bodies). I have tried using it for similar purpose as you have and my only suggestion is to go near the flower/subject and use an aperture of f/2.8 or smaller. Going closer will help you "earn" some shallow dof and a much more pleasant rendering of the bokeh with optimum apertures for this lens (for my copy they are between f/2.8-f.7.1). The bokeh is already pretty good here though. Thanks for sharing. :)

thanks so much yash_c.you are right this lens is better from f2 nd above.

when I shot flower I like the bokeh than the sharpen.next time Iwill try to get good sharpen and bokeh at aperture above f1,6.
