Best wedding wishes to Prince William and Kate Middleton

i would be quiet happy to have a refferendum on the UK leaving Europe and i would be happy to abide by the democratic result :D
The UK may be part of a European Political Area BUT England(and the UK) is not part of Europe it is AN island OF Europe (a Continent)
Well, there are many countries around the world which are surrounded by water but are part of a continent geographically speaking.
you can keep Europe we dont want it :D
Who are we, whether you like it or not any direction Europe takes has a great influence on the UK, it is also good to notice how France and UK have been on the same wavelength and been the spear heads of the action taken in Libya, so I guess you can't take Europe out of the UK. But at the same time, I agree, it is good to retain some independence without being out of the circle.

....again how inane, childish and stupid ,theyvcan be. The OP asked posters to show images they had taken from yesterday's great occasion. If you weren't interested in this subject then why not ignore the post and move on. But no the sad little detractors have to their penny's worthbin with some age old, unhumorous, spiteful comment. It just shows how small and jealous some members on this forum are and it makes me sad that I can't be a member if a grown uo sophisticated group.
Surely, you cannot expect everybody to have serf mentality.
Most people have outgrown it.
Rgds

No offense but you two guys have just plain lost it.
It appears to me that you are the one who is 'losing it'.
95 percent of all the threads on this forum are strictly about photography and photographic problems, yet BOTH of you act as if you have no choice but to read threads that are off topic; as if the world is not meaningful to a photographer.

Apparently photographers are not a part of the real world.
That's your interpretation - not ours.
Sorry, but the real world is what photography is all about, and the last time I checked NO ONE IS FORCING ANYONE TO READ THESE THREADS!
Photography is about whatever any individual photographer chooses.

This forum is for discussing Photography News - it is not for discussing World News and World Politics.
As I posted before...Read the text under News Disussion Fourm: "Welcome to the News Discussion Forum, the place to discuss news articles, breaking news and new technology."...No mention of photography at all!

I think it might be time to delete this forum from my bookmarks. I have never seen so many opinionated people in my life. Shame on you all.
If each time you find something around you that you don't like, you get tense and want to remove it from your world and those who are relax about it should cope the "Shame on you" brush that you are quick to paint everybody, then you must have a sad life.
Quite agree.

As a Photography News Discussion Forum - it's almost a complete waste of time.
There are two things, photography is not something you can cage in a box, there are too many things in this world which are related to photography.

The other one, DPR is one of the most popular forums around, they must be doing something right, so I don't think over policing would get so many clicks on DPR.
Re a news forum: absolutely agree that the world and photography are joined at the hip and there is a right place for mature discussion. My comment is about the immaturity and insular nature of the comments here.

Re clicks = popularity = a good site: Porn has more clicks than DPR - it doesn't make it right though does it?

I have completely changed my view on the royals now, I have French, American and Italian friends who all love the royals and cant get enough of it all, the coverage and publicity for the UK yesterday was fantastic, fasion, tourism, cudos will all benefit.....yes its trivial in many ways, but what country would not want a brand and an identity as strong as that which was displayed yesterday....and didnt London look fabulous ?.....I now think we would be completely bonkers to ditch our royals, I enjoyed every min of it as did much of the population of the US (a checked 60 online newspapers and it was the lead story as it was on Good morning America, CNN, ABC and virtually every other channel)

I am NOT a royalist, I think it is all trivial nonsense BUT, so is Holywood, High Fasion, Pop Music, Ballroom Dancing ...many many things are nonsense, but the Brits put on an amazing show....and the world lapped it up, I thought it was great.....and so did much of the world.....maybe a touch of jealousy around this forum ??

I'm SO SO unbelievably hurt! smile
er . . that WAS the point! Rambling BS . .

Like your 100s of anti Apple threads before you were finally banned from the Apple Forum made sense? Now there was a daily . . "complete waste of time" over months and months! But yakking politics endlessly / continually at a photography site? . . Man now THAT REALLY makes sense!! . . . . Yer a jeanyers! . . . er genius! smile
Now rambling like that is the definition of Complete Waste of Time . Did anyone here read it through?

Barry. My Cameron post was about a gift he made, not about him. A gift that was entirely relevant to this form, and subsequently turned out to be quite interesting, I thought anyway, as the photographer's work was exceptionally good.

This thread is different and contains a lot of embittered idiots who love to moan. There are probably a thousand websites where republicans can blast off their sad view 'til the day they die. I don't think this is the place for them.

As for difficult times, relatively in this country most people are better off than they have ever been, but the sad thing is people don't look at their own wealth but theirs compared to the very rich, and there will always be very rich and in many cases they are the ones that keep the world ticking.

If you are worried about those living in poverty in this country Barry I suggest you share your wealth with them. If you don't want to do that then stop talking about them because talking doesn't help. I already help them with the ludicrous amount of tax I have to pay from my self employed business where my wife and i work extremely hard (and am working today this sunny Saturday and will be working tomorrow too.) The royal family do a huge amount of charity support, the Princes trust to name but one royal charity, but I guess that doesn't count. They didn't ask to be born into their family, but they do the job given to them exceedingly well.

It's a sad day unfortunatey for some, but to all those who watched the wedding and enjoyed the day, I send you my wishes.
Jules
Unavoidable personally I find a discussion of the royals as irrelevant to most people that's being polite. In these difficult times it's completely understandable that they will be the target of criticism a fortune spent on one wedding when some people are living in poverty..does in fact leave a bad taste in the mouth. And that's before we get into the class debate argument ;-)

As you made a Cameron post all we need now is a Nick Clegg one to round the thread off nicely!

Except that you can aspire to become an actor, designer, singer , ballroom dancer and actualy achieve what you aspire to.

You will never become a Royal and live a life of waste and pump.

Give me a break, not allowing "servants" to look Royals in the eye because it is against the protocol?

Rgds

I agree, it would be great to see some pictures. There were millions in center London yesterday, surely some are members here!
Jules
The wedding has been over for hours and I don't think anyone has yet posted their photo of this wedding as the OP requested. There's still about 39 posts left so the highjackers and complainers have left room for your pictures of this beautiful wedding.

Ok Barry, we get your point, it's boring. Give a rest now. Bye.
Oh dear what a shame I missed all the coverage and I'll be sure to avoid any TV tonight as well ;-) I didn't even see a single frame of the event..

Damn.. for one day at least it's nice to imaging a Britain without a wretched class system might have to put Cromwell on the old DVD player tonight as well!

Well some of the minor royals may have an easy ride, but I would NEVER swap my life for that of major royal (William, Harry, Charles etc), to me that would be a nightmare, I dont envy them one little bit, I just like my privacy too much....OK so they have access to great wealth....big deal !!, one foot out of place and their photograph and misdemenour is plastered all over every major newspaper in the world.

I am plenty happy with my lot, they are welcome to theirs and I am glad its not me in the limelight 24/7, but I am grateful that they can perform that hideous role with such finesse. What you are displaying is a common thing, misplaced jealousy of others relative wealth, but think about it, would you want it ??

What I said stands, the major royals are a massive assett to the UK brand, we would be a much less interesting country without them and we would be mad to throw all that away imo....but dont misunderstand me, I think its all trivial, superficial, sentimental anachronistic BS.....but the world loves it, thats just the way it is

As I posted before...Read the text under News Disussion Fourm: "Welcome to the News Discussion Forum, the place to discuss news articles, breaking news and new technology."...No mention of photography at all!
But posting a thread about them would, err, be a violation of the rules? Perhaps just show a few of their last photographs, without mentioning the rest?

Or how about the recent news that landlords in New York are subdividing their buildings and creating fire traps, which in turn, kill the tenants and from time to time the firemen. Maybe some pictures of the fire without discussing the illegal activities of the landlords, and the equally criminal lack of enforcement by the City?

Photographers record the world. And without discussion the photographs are meaningless.

So, yes I have no trouble posting my flower shots, or wildlife shots, or how people react on the street. Nor this wedding, nor what's going on in Yemen or Libya. Nor debates in Congress and who these people are and what they are saying. Nor the demonstrations in Madison or Ohio - It's all part of the real world, and it's all part of what we record.

This illusion that real world events are off limits is to say that photography is off limits. Why bother taking pictures if you're not recording the world?

And when these topics come up, some act as if they are forced to participate. Stangely enough these same guys tell me that they're not going to participate in my flower threads. And I say good for them! Maybe they shouldn't participate in THIS thread if it aggravates their ulcers - No one is forcing them.

Dave

Ok Barry, we get your point, it's boring. Give a rest now. Bye.
Very dismissive I'm sure if you were homeless or worked with helping these people you might take a different view. The millions spent on this wedding is obscene in the extreme.

That money could have been put to real use helping people. Not paying for snobs to get married.

the vast majority of homeless people ive known in the UK were homeless due to overindulgence in Drink drugs or gambling.....a minority though through no fault of there own

with the social security system in the UK there is no need for anyone to be homeless

why do you care ?
Exactly, if you don't like a thread, just ignore it and move on.
If you don't like my observations/opinions - why haven't you just ignored them, and moved on?

Perhaps you should heed your own advice.
You are the one complaining here not me. If you walk in any area, you don't like what you see, or the conversation that you hear, you walk out and never come again,...
You don't appear to like my conversation, but you are not walking out.

Once again - perhaps you should follow your own advice.
...you don't throw insult around.
I have not thrown insult around.

smile . . dpreview seems to be a 'social networking' site for the 2011 version of (Steve Martin / Charles Grodin) 'lonely guys' who will discuss / argue anything !! ......

...... So don't you dare say threads they participate in are a "complete waste of time" !!!! smile They will get VERY defensive!
Or should take just a communication lesson - period. With that 400+ word diatribe that makes no particular point, he probably posted more non-photography words than anyone else on this thread.

Now rambling like that is the definition of Complete Waste of Time . Did anyone here read it through?
Well I did - and I thought it was both funny, and pertinent too - and no more 'off-topic' (re Photography News) than the vast majority of other messages in this thread.

And it seems to have 'touched a nerve' judging by one or two peoples' reactions. ;)
