Best wedding wishes to Prince William and Kate Middleton

Blair and Brown weren't invited weheeeey :D

I don't believe any one from the USA is invited either. Maybe that's why only 6% in the US is even interested, despite the push by the US media. Or just that the US is not into this royal blue blood stuff.

You made your choice in 1776, when the French bailed you out!!! ;-)
--
Yes we did, and thankfully so. We repaid that debt to the French in 1944-45. Our diversity does not fit well adhering to the blue blood in control concept. Just look at our current head of government and state. :)

--mamallama
True enough, but Britain is very diverse these days and remember Kate is a commoner from a working class background, miners from about 1700's :-)
--
I understand that Kate is a commoner, a term I find somewhat degrading, at best. I wonder how would play out if Kate were a commoner of South Asian or African decent. Would it even be possible? After all, love knows no racial boundaries. At least I see that here in the US.

What would be your guess would happen if Kate were a commoner who happen to be Chinese, Korean or Japanese?

--mamallama
as long is she isn't Catholic i think it would be fine
I seriously dought that because the Royals are Protestants not Catholics...The Queen is the head of the Church of England, which has always been seen as the complete opposite of Catholisism, since the days of Henry VIII.
That why Blair was not invited, he converted to Catholicism.
more like him and his wife are horrendous individuals, nude painting of Cherie Blair anyone?

to me........to you

I believe only heads of state of the Commonwealth countries were invited (as per protocol) and then some others were invited if they are close to the Royal family. The Canadian Prime Minister did not attend due to the election coming up here on Monday.

The were a lot of European royalty in attendance though so Europe was well represented.

Really? In the US how many of the WASPs or rich whites south of the Mason-Dixon line, who really run the country, are in mixed race marriages?
Not sure about rich whites and the Mason-Dixon line, but insofar as mixed race marriages and running the country, one need only look at who lives now in the White House.

the Act of settlement would stop a non protestant any chance of succession to the throne

One of the very reasons our "Founding Fathers" were adamant in the separation of church and state. They were adamant about needing to be born in the United States, however, as we are hearing more and more about.

Religion plays very little part of the politics in the UK, the Monarchy is another matter, but it's mostly pomp and circumstance rather actual constitutional matters

She looks a lot less fragile than Diana. I hope that turns out to be true.

i find the man truly distasteful, he has caused thousands to die and suffer because of his actions, and then the painting happened!

It was my understanding that no elected officials were invited which is why Obama was not there. Is this incorrect? I am not well informed regarding the protocol followed by Royalty so if someone could let me know as to the accuracy of my understanding it would be appreciated.

Sue him, you just may find out how wrong you are in both your assumptions and taste.
(but that's just my opinion; while you're at it sue Phidias and Titian)

I believe David Cameron, the current elected Prime Minister was invited. So that's not why Obama was not there. I wonder why myself, but it's hard for me to understand Royalty.

Because of that, he along with Bush and Brown, have been charged with War Crimes by Spain. I think that's why Bush canceled a trip to Spain recently.
