I had Michelle in my little studio for six and a half hours on Saturday and took 734 photos which 99% of them came out well.

So hard but I managed to post 174 on my pbase and flickr account.

Awesome.

Obligatory DPR negativism: I'm not digging the DOF on 7 and 10. Otherwise a home run.

Hi Jack commented noted. :)

That's my fault, I was getting lazy after shooting several hundred photos I had Michelle sit down and then I took a shot and realize I need more light and I open up the lens to F6.3 and only 1.3 meters away @116mm so dof was thin.

The one the floor and the wall pose I remeter the light for F8.

Normally I was taken the photos at F8 and nexr time I remember with close head shot reset the lighting and step it down even more F10.

This was the fourth time using my little studio setup and I think this is my best shoot so far.

I'm learning fast, or I hope I'm. This shoot with Michelle I wanted to give my hand a little more at the glamor and beauty head shots.

I did still take some lingerie, but did not really post them here. The censor police might slap my wrist again. :(

When I saw Michelle from before I saw a quality in her and knew she would glow in beauty head shot as no one took any before.

I'm glad they turned out well as I was playing with the different lighting. The one with a orange glow I was using a gold reflector as fill with one medium soft box as the main light. Next time will try the silver side of the reflector.

Definitely looking forwards to our next shoot more bikini and sexy lingerie. :) But I won't post here maybe the links as I got a warning.

Great shots! Really enjoy seeing photogs getting their skills happening. Would you be kind enough to answer a question for me? What lighting are you using on the background in the pure white shots? I imagine you have 2 lights coming in at 45 degrees. Do you take a reflected reading off the background or something?

Kind regards,
Simon.

I recently posted three definitely NSFW photos, tagged them appropriately and have had no problems re warning etc. Have I been just lucky?
The post that I got slapped on clearly I said NSFW and there was no nudity. Someone complained and I received a message that no sexual in nature photos are allowed but to pose links to the photos.

Guess it was some guy that could not handle looking on beautiful women and thinks a camera should only be used for landscape photography.

Wow,

Excelent model, perfect lighting and posing. The only minot concern which I think could be overcome with the least effort is a messy mascara. She is so lovely that I really dont think she needs all that makeup at all.
Congrats on your job.

Thank you Simon, I will try and answer your question with photo's. :)

I played around and asked opinions but I ended up lower my back ground lights to they are 6' off the ground. As a reference the roof is at 8' 5" so you can get a idea how high I have the back drop close to 8' high.

I positioned the lights and meter each one that the center is about .5 in exposure( lower) towards the sides. Then with both lights on the combined light output is increased in the center.

My center is exactly 1stop(F11) over the main(F8) the outside is at F13(1 1/3+)

I use the Sekonic 358 and turn the meter towards the camera and meter it that way. I will stand where the model stands and meter the light reflected off the back ground at that its not more than F8.

Hope the info helps.

On some of the close up head shot I was getting lazy and wont make that mistake next time. I had Michelle sit down and I opened up the aperture so looking on the back of the camera lcd screen till the exposure on her face looked decent. so the negative with that with the close head shot the dof is quite thin.

I normally re meter the light for when they are lying on the floor.

For my diffusers, I use two soft boxes a large and medium for fill.

I took the first photo around 1:15pm. The make up was excellent and normally the mua would stay for 3 to 4 hours for a complete shoot to do touch ups and change layers going deeper.

She had to leave after the first 30mins of shooting. As the time went on with the shoot we stopped and ate lunch around 3:30pm. Woops the lipstick came off. :(

Normally Michelle does her own make up and she is good at it. But since she was expecting the mua to be there for a few hours she brought no make up for touch ups.

The total shoot time was 6.5hrs so the make up did need some touch up. Normally the mua would stay at least 3hr but she had to leave.

Next shoot I will make sure the mua is there or Michell brings her makeup for touch up.

I don't like rushed 2 or 3 hour shoots.

Love your shots! I'm a big fan of high key. What material is your background, paper? Also how many lights are you using. The full body poses look like she is standing on glass. Oh was there any pp? Thanks. A fan of your style

For my shoot I use a total of 4 strobes. Two are used to light the back ground and one is used for main and the other as a fill.

I use a flash meter to set the lighting so that the back ground so that it is 1 stop over my main lights(F8). The edge of the back ground is 1 1/3+

Reguarding the reflection on the floor I want and like a slight shadow in the photo. What I did and someone recommended to me was to pull out the seamless paper and then lay a white tile board that you can buy from home depot or lowes. They sell a 4'x8' for about $12-$13 a sheet.

Here is a photo as I usually take a photo and check with photoshop to make sure the back ground is blown. If you carefully you can see the sheet of 4x8 on the floor.

Hope this works I just went to lowes took a piece of the grey seamless paper and had them mix a gallon of paint. I will paint a extra white board over with the grey and have the models stand on it. Hopefully they mixed it good. Hoping to get a slight reflection on the grey board too. :)

I forgot to mention I like the reflections on the floor.

I was thinking of clear plexi but that's big $$
