Zeiss 2.8/35mm C + 2.8/25mm ZM Shots

So an overexposed sky won't show the purple shift hmmm. Learned something here. Next time I go out I'll properly expose a white wall or something.
You can do that if you want to humor yourself. No need for completely white wall and accurate exposure, close enough will be good enough, it will be in your shots just like it was in mine even though I didn't notice it before that just like you didn't.

100% crop of lower right corner with ZM 25/2.8:

Yeah..I can safely say I would never notice that in any real life shot. Thanks. Was that wide open or stopped down? Does it matter? So the M9 has built in software to correct this huh? That's why the newer lenses are coded otherwise you have to select the lens from a menu I assume. A little in-camera cornerfixing does the trick for the $7000 M9's purple shifts. At least it's sharp to the edge. I can always cornerfix too if I ever need to produce an award winning shot of a blank white wall.

This was from a part of what you call a real life shot.
Was that wide open or stopped down?
Wide open.
Does it matter?
No and yes. No because it can be corrected. Yes because one should understand gear they use.

Correct and correct.

There is a number of situations in which color shift will show up as obvious, not just on white background, and all of them are real world. Yeah, you can cornerfix it now that you have learnt something about your gear. You are welcome even though you are not very gracious about it, quite the opposite. Have a nice one.

Part of me thought you might be some sort of Leica troll that was offended that I would put M mount lenses on a Nex. The other part was sincere, hence my overall tone. Sorry for that; it's obvious now I read you wrong. The probability that I would take a "keeper" shot wide open and having noticeable shift is pretty close to zero IMO. But in that rare event, it's nice to know I have a solution because the lens is sharp. I'm impressed with the overall sharpness wide open and I thank you for the demonstration and lesson here.

BTW if you don't mind, do you still use your 25 ZM? Thanks again.

Your lences would feel right at home on a RF camera (and would focus much faster too).

Go for a M9 if you can afford it, otherwise M8 is an excellent camera, with its limitations of course.
Anyway RF is a total diffirent experience, so try before you buy ;)

Thanks for the pics. I'm really considering the 35/2.8, so I would appreciate any additional pics you could post. Goes for you too headofdestiny ;) (and anyone else with the lens and NEX combo) Thanks a lot
I'm not capable of taking shots as good as some of these in this thread.

And at the moment, my 25mm is welded to my Nex. BTW where do you plan to buy the 35 C?

I bought mine at Popflash a few weeks ago.

I have the Zeiss 25/2.8 as well.. Shoot with it more.. you'll see color shift issue pop up occassionally.. usually at the worst time.. and it's hard to gt rid of because it's magenta in color.. using Corner Fix sounds like an easy fix but getting a profile that works is hard =/

I certainly do not want to come off the wrong way and scare you away but is it possible for someone to post an actual real world uncropped shot with the Zeiss 25 ZM that is spoiled by color shift? I'd like to see how bad it can get compared to color shifts I've seen in wider lenses.

Yes i noticed that too--that same HK seller is the one I used. Shipping was suoer fast--took like 4 days to arrive TNT shipping. Glad I bought the silver 35 C, looks better to me on my black (actually grey) Nex 3 than my black 25. I wonder if/when he will have more in stock did you ask? I like the 35 C so much I'd consider a backup for investment. With what's going on in Japan and the US/Zimbabwe dollar, I'm guessing price increases for Zeiss. I also snapped up a ZM 2/35 mint in box with hood from a dealer in MN. Too good a deal to pass up; I could flip it for $200 profit the day it arrives. But I want a faster 35 too--the 35 C is only for times where size really matters.

I did not ask. I did ask him though a week ago if he had it in black, but he siad "not in this shipment". Sounds like he will get more in the future (hoepfully). I agree, after seeing pics of people's setups I think I prefer the silver too. Now do I want a silver or black adapter lol.

FWIW, the ZM silver lenses with the Voigtlander silver M adapter look really, really good. It almost looks like one piece, because they match very well.

thanks, that's the adapter I'm thinking of getting, mainly because the release doesn't look like it impedes the grip and also for overall quality. good to know.

I bet the silver does look awesome with that top of the line adapter...cough...jealous...cough. How accurate is infinity with that combo? Please post a nice big shot of the setup from the front. Yeah I believe the 2.8 C outperforms the 2.0 at every aperture, that's why I had to get the C first priority. But for the price I paid for the 2.0, I just had to buy it. The lens is no slouch--the C is just perfection? For low light handheld the extra stop will be useful.

The Nex paired with the ZM 35 C is a killer combo--no doubt. So small and compact.

Please define what is a "real world shot" to you because shot I cropped from was from what I consider a real world.
