18-135 Macros

Exactly right Gerry, it's not going to be top dog at any one thing but as an all rounder to my eye it's 90% there. What you are not going to use it for is tele landscape or architecture.

Hey Dean,

Great lot of shots.

I think that once again Klaus has failed big time with his assessment and this shows that numbers are just that and there is more to a lens than just straight numbers and what Klaus thinks or feels, you actually have to get out and shoot with the lens to truly evaluate just how good or bad it is. I do think that the lens should be a little cheaper though.

Cheers.

Pete

Hi LaRee yes it sure is a good FL, 28 - 200 of old and guess what - portrait length is smack in the middle, sweet.

Looking good Xiaomao, especially for a GP lens.

Well Pete numbers are what Klaus does I guess and he does it well, but you have to be careful what conclusions you draw from those numbers. To me high resolution center and soft edges with slight vignetting at 60 to 135 wide open says portrait/candid, Klaus did hint at this but unfortunately not strong enough IMO, anyway this lens has the character I've been waiting for in a GP lens.

Price US is fair, its built K5 tank like, is WR, has rounded aperture blades yielding beautiful bokeh is nicely compact and doesn't creep even when slung over your back hiking/climbing - its worth it IMO, mind you I wouldn't like to be buying in the EU.

Thanks Mahesh - I don't have a problem with the lens, my problem is always the adjustment of the nut behind the view finder.

His conclusion and optical rating are just wrong though, perhaps he needs to adjust the filter on his K-5??? ;-)

Look pretty good to me Dean.
I don't think ISO 3200 would look that good on my *istD :-)

Cheers,
