Using the E-3 or E-5 in all kinds of conditions, I had almost forgotten what fun I had with my E-330 (my first SLR). So for yesterday's Sunday walk, I took the old marvel out of the cupboard, grabbed a few lenses and gave it another go.

It all came back to me immediately : nice handling (not the best of viewfinders, but hey...) great rendering and colour from that other sensor. The LV remains unique (I actually used it sometimes on the camera, while almost never on the others) .

And it balances with the ZD8mm FE lens really well (I had not mounted that on the E-330 before).

For old times' sake, the other lenses were the ZD14-54MkI and the ZD40-150MkI (old kit lens).

The E-330 was my first big Olympus love. It is nice to remember why.

I had a ton of fun. Here are some pictures from the walk:

Your E-330 does quite well...I enjoyed seeing your pictures. You probably know I'm just staying with the E-500 and E-510 for a while. The older Olympus DSLR cameras really are still as good as they were "yesterday". They were generally rated high in the reviews.

Nice. I have to say I like the fisheye best.

Nice shots, all, but I especially like the field in fish-eye.

Digi, those older cameras pushed the envelope with true innovations.

In more recent offerings, Olympus expands on its prior innovations, follows the competition and adds gimmicks.

Great stuff Roel.

Maybe I am wrong but there is a definte difference in colours on the older sensors.

I have decided I will always keep a E-500 and the new kit lenses nomater what system I use. I however will not be changing systems sone.

The 330 remains in my bag for many of the same reasons you enjoy it but mostly that besides the high ISO's of the E 5, I can use it and not notice the difference in its images'

Using its LV A with the FE or 7-14 is a blast too.

Roel, with brent I like the ploughed landscape where the bowed line from that plane gives a beautiful support to bowed horizon. But first I like nr.1, the charming of that coulisse landscape and third the Kapelstraat which probably deserved a place in the family album which is a very nice shot, I like very much. You're a daring person, personally I have desided a long time ago to keep a reasonable distinction between the internet and the personal parts, but you show that the contrary can be very charming as well.

Cheers Lou

I'm also fairly committed.
Not because I like to be committed or (want to) feel trapped.
But because I genuinely like what Olympus can offer me.

I dont leave my 330 on the shelf long enough to collect dust!!!

I got my first 330 in a swap for an E-1, and almost "used it up" in a couple of years...

My second one came (I think) from Cameta.. Of the dozen DSLRs I have, its the one I like most for "around the house/yard/farm" for daily use..

As far as Im concerned, no one has yet come up with a better implementation of live view than "live view mode A".. (Sony tried it, but it wasn't better).

I dont publish, or sell most of the shots I take with it, because they are personal stuff, but I have used it at events from time to time for candids, and Im not afraid to go to ISO 800 with it. (a little NR in lightroom is good for it)..

I truly LOVE this camera.. (and the Panasonic L-1 which is the same hardware without the flippy screen).

I'm more than a little "Miffed" at Olympus for never following up on the GOOD things they do, and Im pretty sure I wont be buying anything "New" from them...(with the exception of possible lenses) BUT...

I am, however, committed to using the great stuff I have from them:

E-1/300/330/510/520/620(x2)..

I agree with Collin about the "Color".. I dont know WHAT the difference is (I've always called it "Creamy color") but I know I like it..
