1.0.4

But at least we know that it's on it's way... perhaps an early Christmas present??
Not official? Or just a test? 1Ds Stylee blooper?

Peter,

I'm curious how you found this page? Was it linked from any of the other canon-asia pages? Heheh, I ask because when I saw the thread started by Sam, I looked around to try and find something too. Even went to the firmware download page, and tried to change the version number in the "download". Nope, nothing. :-(
  • Eric, excited about the new firmware!

I used http://www.canon-asia.com search engine.
with the words Firmware update d60

The 3rd hit will have the title "Digital Camera - Firmware Update Information (PowerShot A10)"
But the url points to a D60 named file so i got curios and checked it out.

canon-asia is the only canon site that gives relevant hits it seems.

Release date stated in the is 12 Nov, thats more than a week ago
and the search engine says last updated Nov 1, thats a very long time ago.

It had better not be a test version!!! I don't think Canon would put a Test Firmware on my camera!!

Thnaks for the link Peter.
It is interesting that Canon states "to improve the following inconvenience"

Does improve mean just to reduce the odds of the bug? Usually they say "to fix" "to solve". And they do say "Thumbnail image can become pitch-black" Does this mean you can still get the thumbnail which shows the previous image?
Don't get me wrong, this is very exciting that Canon is addressing this issue.

But it does seem that they are not too sure in their wording that it is a complete fix. Perhaps since this has been online since at least Nov 1 when the search engine was last updated and the firmware has yet to be released to the general public, thay may still be working on an even newer version that will definitely fix this issue....Great news it sound like.

It could also be that it is an English page on a canon-asia site. Maybe something was lost in the translation?

"Digital Camera Firmware Update Information" Keyword being information. This may mean that they are finalzing the firmware. But if so what did Sam get?

Perhaps someone can call Canon Singapore and speak to whoever is responsible for ther web site - maybe we can get them to follow this up with Japan. It is possible that someone at Canon just forgot to post the new firmware even though it might be cleared for public release.
