I have bought several lenses and the 1D camera from Delta. They have always been cheerful, truthful, timely and complete in all their dealings.

makes me worry about what to expect in the package of the 1D from
Delta. Will it be missing anything that would normally be in a USA
model from B&H or other companies? Will someone who has received a
1D from Delta enlighten me? Much appreciated!

I don't doubt that because I have bought many lenses from them before. My question was concerning what came with the 1D from delta. According to that post it sounded like it doesnt come with a DC charger and manual because its a grey market camera. I want to ask someone who got one from Delta before to confirm or deny that.

It varies, actually, depending on which country the camera was supposed to go to in the first place.

You MIGHT get an actual English manual. On the other hand, you might have to get a COPY of the English manual.

You'll get the charger, but it may come set-up for the European electrical outlets. In which case, you'll have to buy a converter to let you use it in the US. (Inexpensive).

For about the same price (a little LESS right now, actually, I think), you can get a US version from B&H.

Why don't you just call them and ask them?

Many people here have purchased from them very successfully. Any problems that have risen they quickly correct.

Try it yourself.

On RARE occasions you may receive a box where the manuals are in Japanese and the power cord is a European type. In almost all cases Betty includes a full reprinted English manual to take the place of the Japanese one's as well as a power cord. In the unlikely event this is not in the box, give her a call and she will immediately rectify it. As I say, it doesn't happen often but it has happened. I also had to change the menu language on the big LCD to English from Japanese. Not very hard to say the least. I think you'lll be just fine. Otherwise it has ALL the original and expected accessories in the box as in all others sold........

I'm in the UK and bought a 1D from Delta - first one I received was faulty and I sent it back (but it was a UK spec and had UK leads and manual). Second one is fine and is a US spec, i.e. English manual and US lead - I just swapped the leads over with the UK one before I sent the faulty one back (which delta paid for in full). I found then excellent to deal with and they acted immediatly when I discovered the first one was faulty by sending me out a replacement. I deliberately bought from Delta as their warranty is for 3 years and is international.

I bought my D30 from them because they have been recommended here and the total cost of camera+shipping was lower. I have bought also from other and asked for matching prices which was never a problem. Living outside the US I find that there could be differences in costof shipping and port brocarage fees of more than $100 from one company to another.

As to your concern about being right/including everything - there is reallyno room for wrries - it is all there and in English. As far as I got to know these guys they don't get offended if you ask them direct questions. It may put your mind at ease - I would have done that if were in your shoes right now

all was fine, with a small exception that the battery charger had the two round EU prongs instead of US prongs. No big deal, as David said, just get a small plastic adapter from Radio Shack. Manual was English, etc. I did ask them first about the manual, so they put me on hold and made sure the one they were sending me had the English manual.

As has been said before in many posts, they were great to deal with and not so large that you talk to a different person every time. Betty is the main gal, and because of that, she makes good on virtually everything - it's in her best interest.

Hope this helps,
Chris

No Offense Ozy, but why did you bother to buy from Delta in the first place? A new USA model is about $4399 at BH... the two batteries are roughly $130 each. Total cost 4670 plus shipping. You said you paid $4700.... not really worth it in my mind. And don't get me wrong, I have purchased many things from Delta, including my 100-400, but when it comes to $40 or so on almost $5K, why deal with non-US manuals and adapters, etc. It will hurt your resale value (in most markets) to say the least. Ok, now for Lee's rant...

I'm another Delta satisfied customer from the UK.

I did have to buy an adaptor plug for the charger as it was the US version but everything else was in the box.

Ozy, I agree with Matthew - why go with Delta for a grey purchase which costs you MORE than B&H? B&H is $4299 now, BTW!

If you get a model with a foreign power cord, make sure you get a replacement that operates BOTH with a power cord appropriate for your country AND that the charging unit itself is also compatable. This is to avoid potential fire hazards and also damage to your equipment. Sometimes just changing the power court might not be enough.

I wasn't going to bother saying it, but I totally agree & I have bought a bunch of stuff from Delta!!

My shipped price from Delta was $4644, from B&H in order to get the same waranty and shipping it was going to be about $4890. Thats over $200 more. As far as selling the camera is concerned, the people that I would sell it to wont care if its gray or US because of the Mack warranty. And I guarantee you that I'll be using it the first year for sure! I didn't call Delta back and ask because I thought about these things late last night when I was asleep/dreaming of it. :)

...but they suggested a 757 instead! :)
Gotcha!

This whole grey vs. U.S. thing is a bunch of horse dung if you ask me. I hasn't kept me from a penny of revenue when selling. The ONLY thing that typically matters is your credibility and the condition of the product. Now with the transferrable 3rd party extended warranties any savvy buy would PREFER a grey unit from Delta.....;-)

I got my 1D, 70-200 2.8L, and 2X Extender all from Delta. Great folks. Price was best around by a long shot. Everything new, crisp, and pristine. You can always call and talk to Betty or Sarah direclty.

I'm suspicious of the recent anit-Delta rants. Wonder which competitor they are eating into that it trying to give them a bad name.

There's not much to be suspicious about.

They're charging MORE for the 1D (and other products as well, I think) than B&H is at this point in time.

I've bought from them and B&H, and have returned items to both places.
