Shutter delay on flash photos

I've just used the camera to take a series of flash (low light) photos, and noticed there is a considerable delay in shutter release on Auto mode. This was noticeable as the subjects (at a party) obviously move constantly, and in many cases were out of frame byt the time the shutter released.

Was wondering if anyone had some suggested setting for a Mymode setting to reduce the problem.

Ideally, I'd like NO shutter delay. I though maybe the way to go would be to leave it at wide angle, manually set the focus at say 6-8 feet, and let the camera work out the apeture and shutter speed.

Any ideas from anyone?

Sorry, forgot to mention - C730UZ camera!!

Also, does anyone know if you can specifically name the MyModes? MyMode1 doesn't mean much!

Shutter lag is a characteristic of most consumer cameras. When you get into the more expensive cameras, the lag is not so noticeable and the quality of photos at higher ISO is superior. You have to pay big bucks for those features.
