It went out Fedex Ground, as it was a 2 day service and it didn't
seem to be a benefit to go 2 day air for more than twice the price.
I have learned since then that Fedex Ground is the old Roadway
Package Service that was notorious in this area for
losing/destroying packages. Nevermore! Also, never put the
contents on the form, if they insist, give them a Nikon part number
or something that no one can recognize, I truly believe mine was
stolen in Hartford, CT (it's last scan) because the counter people
insisted I write "digital camera" on the form, which they proceeded
to prominently display on the outside of the box. At that moment,
I had a strong feeling I would never see it again. These feelings
are usually correct.
Anybody know if Nikon has a D100N in the wings???
Finally, my apologies to you, Jim, the ultimate frustration of the
situation led to a rather terse reply, it is obvious now, you
didn't deserve it. Pitfall of the internet.....
Sorry Baywing. My comments may have been rather harsh but I really
do feel for your frustration. I may have over reacted slightly due
to all the other threads and complaining on this subject which
which in most cases resulted in false alarms. In your case it
surely does not look like a false alarm. Hope my comments have not
added to your frustration and that you can get the claim resolved
and get back shooting with your new D100 soon.
I have always thought of FedEx as the best of the ways we have of
shipping valuables but now am starting to wonder. You may have
mentioned it previously but did you send yours by their Air or
Ground
service.
Jim
