Challenge 154 is Cheer Up!

I was a bit surprised to win this one, so i had not even started to think of a theme. And i know you are eager to get going on a new challenge so i came up with this from the top of my head:

I'we been really busy here lately as my car broke down. (No i didn't crash this time). So now i have to spend the same amount of money as a new e-5 would cost me on a dieselpump. And the hefty winter is really wearing me down( i can't even use my bike to work, not to speak of the tractor on the rock)). Also what's going on in Japan is very depressing. So the next challenge has to be something to cheer me up.

So Anything cheerful, funny, joyful, soothing, whatever goes. Interpret freely as always.

See http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/cheer+up for some tips perhaps.

The Challenge runs from Thursday, March 17rd to Monday the 28th at 9pm GMT.

Voting will start immediately after, and run till Wednesday March 16th at 9pm GMT.

Please add your name after the title (makes voting easier), and make the image 800 pixels or less on the long edge (or 1000 for wide format), no larger than 200kB. Pbase let us run these challenges free on their website, so please respect this by keeping your file size reasonable.

Ensure the EXIF data is intact for the competition, with the date it was taken.

To post a photo in either gallery; just select the gallery of choice from below: Competition or Exhibition (popularly called the X gallery).

On the top of the page you will see "edit this gallery", click on that and it will ask for a password. Enter "kickass" (don't ask, just keep it lower case) and you should be able to make it from there.

If you still need assistance, ask and you shall be answered. Sometimes the answer is even the right one!

Newcomers are totally welcome - Just post here if you need assistance to get images into the gallery or if you are not certain what's going on. We all started off clueless and make the same mistakes. For some guidance on what sort of shots fit what sort of themes, just do a search here on 'challenge' in the subject and browse the past competitions.

Competition - pictures taken with a 4/3 or m4/3 camera, during the entry time (March 17 to the 28th):

Exhibition - any camera any time:

Originals - if you want to show how the original photo looked before you modified it: http://www.pbase.com/oly_foto_review/c154_originals

Please help me out of my misery, let my therapy begin !
And most important, have fun!

You are correct the news has been very half empty lately, and the way winter hangs on gets a bit depressing - a good theme to change attitudes.

Congrats!

Could be tricky, this one. I had a look at my archive and was impressed by how cheerless many of them are, except for some personal ones which I prefer not to post and aren't so great as photos in any case.

I too have been in a slump. Everything seems upside down; politics, Japan, the Middle East, not enough sunshine, and dieting a lot-losing a little. Ugggg!

I think a quest for something cheerfull will be just the ticket!

Sorry I'm not around much. But I shall be again, very soon, thanks to a most kind and generous friend who will remain anonymous. And my poor old half-croaking E-510 is struggling mightily to capture ... well, something. Anything, focused or not!! Today felt like spring here. I walked the dog twice and just breathed it all in. The air, I mean, not the dog.

My grandson will be here in a matter of weeks now. His mom is full term on Monday. So I guess we know what kinds of shots I'll be learning to master, eh?

Hope all is well with everybody here. I'll see if or what the E-510 will let me enter. I feel cheerful even if I'm quiet.

I think the parents (at least in my case) appreciate bouncing flashes off the ceiling as to not blind the baby. HA! Try looking for a used FL36, should be able to pick one up fairly cheap. I think mine was $150.00 new. Or just go for some good window light, or high ISOs. I can't wait to see him!! You're going to love having him around that's for sure! Zachary is 13.5 months old now and he is strong as a little ox! He just learned to walk last month and now he drags things around twice his size! No real talking yet, just a lot of baby talk. You just have to pretend you understand every word. HA first noise he made was Vrrrrooommmm with his cars. Funny huh!

I'm so excited for you Brenda!

That's great Brad! I was thinking of getting some tomatoes this year to put in the big pots I have. Last year I had flowers, this year I want tomatoes. Do you have a suggestion for a nice big slicers type tomato? I think years ago I planted 'big boys'. I like em juicy more that seedless I think. The new seedless tomatoes might be alright too?

How big is your garden Brad? I miss not having a garden. I grew up with a garden, a serious one. It was a little over a 1/4 of an acre. My parents grew every veggie known to man. LOL They neighbors grew potatos and strawberries so with some good trading we always ate home grown.

I think it's partly why I'm not healthy anymore. Too much crappy eating out food. It's hard to cook when Marv has always been restless and it's hard to stay home much. I'm much more of a homebody than he is. I'm glad spring is coming, sandwiches can be packed and I love sandwiches! Marv eats too many hambergers. Doesn't a nice cucumber n swiss cheese on rye and a bit of miracle whip sound great!
