Amazon Pre-order delivery

I haven't received it and ordered a day before you..

HOWEVER... I just moved, and in doing so had to change my address, and change the ship to address for that order - so that may be taken as a confirmation of desire.

That said, I'm canceling my order anyway.

I believe Amazon automatically sends that email out for items that have no estimated availability date or haven't been shipped a month after you put in your order.

Results don't seem better than the x1, seriously reconsidering tying up that much cash in a fixed lens crop compact. Nohing against the fuji in particular, but not much compelling at this point either..

Samples aren't bad..nor jaw dropping

Had my X100 for a couple of days and I agree that the image quality isn't jaw dropping but neither are those from the X1 either.

the X100 does offer a lot more features over the X1 but whether image quality is one of them I'm not sure, at this point I think the GXR beats both

Couldn't comment til I used it, but if samples are an indication, I'd say the x1 is ahead. Again I could be seeing bad samples, just like many are using the ridiculous x1 samples posted in tht compare, so it may well be better.

That sid, it's the price of a 35L.

My last X1 was a dud (sent it back and got the GXR instead) but my first copy from when the X1 was released produced great results, only sold it because I got a second M8.2.

I think that for pure image quality the X1 wins over what I've seen and taken with the X100, it's all down to personal taste and here for the APS-C sensor compacts
the GXR + 28/50 is miles ahead

Autin101, I'm not sure how you reach that conclusion as I have owned the GXR with the 50mm lens and I don't think it compares to the X100 (I have it too). Even at the lower ISO levels there is much more noise in the GXR images and as the ISO goes up the X100 walks away. Color is truer and AWB beats the GXR hands down. Build quality is very similar in the both are built like little tanks and on controls, the GXR for the current type of controls is the best of the breed but I still prefer manual controls for shutter speed and aperture. OVF/EVF there is no comparison with the X100 walking away. I haven't tested things like video yet so I don't know how those compare. Maybe you could post some samples illustrating why you think IQ on the GXR is better.

John, I'm planning to take some side by side shots with the GXR + 28 (28 is a closer match to the 35mm in the X100 than the 50mm module) and the X100 tomorrow and I'll post them in a new thread.

Is the GXR autofocus on par with the X100 and which one handles manual focus the best?

I look forward to your comparison shots. I'll see if I can do the same by shooting something with the X100 I shot with the GXR. I didn't have the 28mm so I can't compare to it.

By the way, has anyone else noticed that Amazon doesn't lit the X100 anymore. I just did a search to look for accessories and it's gone.

X100 is still at amazon. Just not as a preorder now.
I haven't been able to find it there for several days. My preorder shows under my account, but as a search item, it's not listed anymore. I don't remember if it disappeared before or after the announcement of its delay...

Thanks, Rocky. That page still does come up if I go to my order, but not if I type the camera name in the search box...strange.

Is this your weekly taunt? So you are first in a line that only will get past number 1 - do you have to remind the rest of us quite so regularly?
