Two weeks ago I got my C-730. I've uploaded a couple of my shots so far on pbase. http://www.pbase.com/dinnan

This is my first digital camera, actually my first camera at all. I think the camera is great. The only thing that bothers me is the noise level in low light photos.

One of the first things I noticed was how hard it is to get sharp photos with full zoom in rather low light. But I guess that's me being an unexperienced photographer rather than being an issue with this camera.

There is some noise but not that terrible... set sharpness to soft and quality to SHQ (lower compression). Sharpness may be gain later with less noise.

Wonderful pictures, especially since you haven't had a digital camera before. It is difficult to get sharp pictures in telephoto especially when hand held. Unless you have an image stabilizer lens this problem will exist with any camera. The only was to minimize this is to use a tripod. Good luck with your camera. It looks like you're off to a great start.

Actually, you did a fine job hand-holding the 730 at full zoom and shooting the birds in relatively low light, at 1/125th of a second.

The flying bird, of course, is a blur. But the one sitting is quite sharp, for 1/125th at full zoom and no flash. You can really notice it if you click the "original" version of the photo and scroll over to the sitting bird.

Congratulations!

Thanks for all positive comments. I'm very pleased to hear that you like some of my shots.

I'll try to minimize the sharpness to see what it does to the noise.

BTW: I live in Umeå, in the northern part of Sweden.

also set ISO to 100 as a default.
