My first studio shoot ... harsh C&C accepted

thanks again. I really thought I would get more negative feedback, but your comments are rather inspiring. Thank you.

As I inspected I caught a flue, so I need to recover real quick since I have my next shoot on Saturday. Therefore I'm not spending a lot of time by the computer and will have to put my pp experiments for a little later. The eyes keep tearing up.

Thanks for the masking tips, i will definetley use them in later pp.

Here's the thing I wanted to ask though. Next time I want to illuminate the subject all the way, from legs to head, and I want the light to be spread evenly throughout. I noticed in my pictures I have the top of the body lighter than the lower body. Does that mean I have to put my octa softbax not as high but rather lower it down, and change the 45 degree angle? Or is it done a little differently... I'm afraid I don't have these couple of days to experiment.

Sometimes it's you. Sometimes it's the model. I've been very lucky but I have run across models that just can't seem to give me a good pose. They are stiff and unresponsive. You do the best you can and then just move on.

I agree with most of the posts on the photos so I won't be redundant but just say to keep at it. It gets easier with practice.

Very important not to have the model to close to the background, a lesson I learnt after my 1st studio photo shoot and never forgotten to this day. When the model is to close it almost looks like they are painted on the backdrop.. very 2 dimensional.. the trick is to make it look 3 dimensional.. There are differant tricks photographers use to do this ... using shadow is 1.. if you used a backlight, directed at hair or backdrop it would give the elusion of distance between model and backdrop... you will get there just keeping taking photos and have the willingness to learn... goodluck

Thanks for the tip. To be honest I was trying to get some other type of pictures next to the background, but when she was, as some of you say "unresponsive", I decided to change the theme of the picture and brought in the chair and totally forgetting about the fact that I should move back. Like I said it was my first shoot and I think I was more nervous than she was ... lol

Other than that I'm starting to fight my flue, so I should be up and running quite soon - I hope.
