I recently have seen some pictures from a combination of M9 and Nikkor Noct 58/1.2 linked with a novoflex conversion ring. Some of you may have seen them as well, they are just fantastic, in fact if you haven't visited Prosophus"s site, you should, the work is just outstanding. With this combination in mind, and being aware of the absence of coupling, inability to focus, meter, has anyone tried M system with a classic lens such as the 80mm 1.4 R? I have done an extensive search, and cannot find the answer. I have seen it combined with a Nikon F mount, after modification, but no mention of use on a M system. Thank you for you assistance, and have a great day

I have seen the adapters or conversion rings, just have seen no comments about actually how well the combinations work. It may be that the big bulky 80mm 1.4 R blocks the viewfinder, or it may just be that it is too tough to focus, I imagine, largely based upon distance, and to some degree, experimenting with exposure. Just wondering if anyone out there has given it a try, or heard if the combinattion of R lenses with M bodies works, or is worth the effort. Thanks for your reply Dirk

As I am not native english speaker...I didnt understand everything.

My question is that I would like to know if I'll be able to focus just like on this video with my Leica R lenses fited on my M body.

Any idea?

ah...I meant...if I buy an M body!

You can only focus using the distance scale on the R-lens - there is no coupling to allow use of the M rangefinder, and the current M-system digital bodies do not permit use of the rear screen for live view focusing.

Incase there is any confusion, Metering with either Nikon or Leicar R lenses is perfectly possible on the M9, Either wide open or by manually stopping down, There is no point converting anything longer than 50mm or shooting very stopped down though as you have no focusing guide except scale focus.
I use my Nikkor 24mm on my M4-p from time to time and it works fine.
