Hi Everyone!

Is anyone out there have compared this two lens ? I'm planing to purchase 1 of them can you please help me which one is better? Im using nikon DX bodies.

THNX IN ADVANCE!

I have both but the Sigma is the HSM version and the Tamron is the version without a BIM...

The Tamron is sharper wide open but seems to suffer a little with chromatic aberration/purple fringing when shot at wider apertures under harsh lighting. It is nice and light so it's great when I need to carry a camera and lens all day.

The Sigma is built a little heavier and although not quite as sharp wide open it is just as sharp when stopped down a little. The Sigma also focuses much closer and seems to focus quicker especially in low light.

In the end I like the sharpness of the Tamron and like the Sigma for it's ability to focus closer. Images from the sigma seems to be a little more contrasty as well. I'd say that they are both great lenses with the Tamron being ever so slightly sharper.

I was going to direct you to pixel-peeper. but I just checked and for some reason they don't have any photos with the Sigma.

Why not throw the Nikon into the mix? You won't be sorry.

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming - ' Wow! What a ride!'

Another +1 for the Sigma. I've not used the Tamron, although my brother with his D300s bought 2 and they seem to suffer from a close focusing issue. His issue with both copies of the lens may just be very bad luck though as most reports for the Tamron are positive. I must admit his issues with the Tamron are what convinced me to spend a bit extra and go the Sigma.

I tried out both and decided on the Sigma. I am using it mainly as a indoors and evening/night lens.
