Hi everyone,

Just about to get my D7000 (tuesday) and am wanting to know the best (user friendly) software to get.

It will only be for family photos.

Will viewNX2 cut the mustard or do I need Capture or Apple Aperture 3?

Don't think I want to fork out for Photoshop CS5.

Thanks Ausfox.

Cant wait to see this erupt.

What did i miss there?

Toronto?

Sorry... I couldn't resist.
If you watch Jeopardy! (vs "Watson") you'll notice my tongue, firmly in cheek.

The actual reply depends on several variables. Your expectations, end use, your technical ability, computer used, what's your background in photography and software is and so on.

Tell us about yourself.

What about for RAW images?

iPhoto will handle RAW.

Start with it, and consider alternatives when you reach its limitations.

I only switched to Aperture for 2 reasons:

1. Aperture has non-desructuve editing built-in
2. iPhoto doesn't like my old nVidia graphics card very much

For all its advantages, I find Aperture harder work than iPhoto, and I'd stick with iPhoto if/when I get a new iMac

I process most of my RAW files with either Bibble Pro or DxO. Both have free trials.

For DAM (Digital Asset Management) I use Lightroom.

I used to use iPhoto for most things before I started to look around for other RAW processors.

Simplest and least expensive, yet very powerful: Start with iPhoto. Graduate to Aperture.

Thanks guys. Didn't think iPhoto would cope. But you have all saved me at least $200.
Thanks.
