Challenge 6 - CHAT -Faces of the world-

Three Months Ago, Doug?!!!! Get out! I have renewed faith.

I've always jokingly called myself the Accidental Artist because most of the things I've done/created were pure serendipity. But now I want to learn to take control.

I like the idea "mimic the pictures you like". I loved Shafak's water drip pic in Ch.4 and thought that was something I could actually try myself for practice.

Today I came home with 30 lbs. of Photography books from the library ;-) between that and you guys I'm on my way to becoming the Intentional Artist.....one can only hope. Mainly I want to have some digital fun.

Thank you so much for encouragement and community.

Hi Midnight2, Doug, Petra and anyone else,

Don't worry about how good your photos are... just enter the best shot you can take!

You will learn a lot by entering, and you should have a great time too! :-)

I have been a member of this Forum for almost two and a half years, and have had my 990 for the same length of time. In that time I have also taken about 13,000 photos. (I'm not saying that I'm a great photographer, but I have had a fair amount of experience)

Well I have entered every Challenge (except the last one - I was busy and missed it, although I had a pic ready that I really liked :-) ) and so far I have only received 1 or 2 votes... but I think it has been worth it, and it has been good fun too.

You will find that only a small group of entries get votes in each Challenge, and many of the very experienced people around here often don't get a vote... but others that are very new to it all take a brilliant shot and get a good number of votes!

So the moral of it all is that their is no harm in starting to enter now... I would if I were you! :-)

Have fun, and I look forward to seeing some of your pics (in the Challenge)!

Yours sincerely,
Michael Offe,
South Australia.

Here is my thought process...

Technically the photo of the photo might have been taken within the time frame allowed for... But I feel that the intent of the rule was to get people to go out and take photos not pull from existing photos and scan them or simply shoot an existing photo.

At the end of the day, this might be a mute point as the rules also state no frames or matting will be allowed. This being the case, I'm sure Warren will be more than willing to withdraw his entry and give it a go on the next challenge.

I'll go with that at well, a picture of a picture is not
a valid entry.
btw: Does Bin's picture show up for you?

Weird, I can't view it with Explorer and then when
I try with Opera I get a network error.
Could you email me it please?

... IF the picture of the picture had been accompanied with the lady of today (i.e. her holding the picture of herself) I'd say it would be a great picture and would be very interesting seeing the face, now and then.

But then again.... maybe it's not possible... but a good idea. :-)

Petra

Wow. Thanks, I'm gaining courage too.

Only 13,000? I've taken 1000 in 3 wks. trying to learn the 4500!!! Hopefully soon I can start concentrating on the actual picture. LOL

BTW, just had an Austrailian visitor how brought us JAFFAS, the candies, and I'm hooked!

I gotta agree...geez, I can't wait for someone to choose "Black and White Scenics" for a Challenge. I can do a first-class copy job of some Ansel Adams photos....

This is not original, it needs to be disqualified. I honestly never thought it was under serious consideration!

Myron;
After looking at your entry... and reading your comments and the Exif info...
I got to ask how you did that???

When I first looked at the shot. I thought... what the !$#? & is Myron doing... that has been PS to death... but then I read your comments and Exif. So now you have me tell this stupid Cunuck how you did it... because I think this one is way above me...

I also did not think it was a serious entry. I assumed it was placed there due to the Veterans Day Holiday.

Actually Doug, I just submitted it to 'push your buttons' [Big grin]
(to see if it met the rules of the challenge)

As shown below (using my CP950), I used my antiquated Cokin prism filter clamped into a shop vise & slid in place in front of the lens.

The second shot shows my 'high-tech' studio (my back yard) with the watches velcro'd onto black electrical wire in front of a black velvet drop cloth (looks purple in the picture).

I figgered (sic) this way - with so many good faces already submitted, the only chance I had was to opt for quantity vs. quality. :-)

BTW: I did not submit to garner votes, but to challenge viewers to 'think outside the box' (AKA creativity).

Just curious as to what's in that box in the top left
hand corner of the second picture ??
