I'm shorter and own a cheapie but recently Group Idiot mentioned the Gitzo. Check the previous posts in this forum. I think it was a bit over $200 US. I recall that it was pretty tall.

the gitzo g1588 mountaineer mk2 is plenty for tall guys like you (and me). get the complete rig as suggested on http://www.reallyrightstuff.com/tutorials/monopods/index.html ; (i.e., with the swivel and clamp).

LOL No, he's one of the posters in this forum. He started a thread about a week ago which described in detail his requirements for tri and monopods. That's where I heard about the Gitzo.
Actually he's not an idiot at all....he agrees with me about the (in)famous 1.5 magnification factor. But don't get me started!

Bogen/Manfrotto makes a decent carbon fiber monopod which is about $125. Works fine.
