Freaky detail Photoshop action

JJmacks Thanks for linking the video, fantastic.

Great potential

The action works well in 8bit mode. But in 16 bit mode the step Surface Blur hangs forever. I didn't managed to wait until the end. My comp is quite old and the file gets quite big, 60MB, may be this is a reason.
Has anybody else tried in 16bit mode.

I tested 2 images and the size didn't seem to make a difference. The first was just a background layer (doc: 72.8M/72.8M) and the second was the same image with layers (Doc: 72.8M/993.M). Both took about a minute...in 8 bit they both took about 5 seconds.

Tony - i tried out your action on a few landscapes.
your action does better in the Highlight areas.

try JJMacks "microdetail Enhanced Fewer Stops" Action. Works wonders for everything else.

I also tried it on landscapes and I like it very much. On portraits and old buildings, cars, etc. I use LucisArt 2 (I won't spring for the new version), but on landscapes, I prefer this. It sharpens them very nicely. At least the ones I tried...

Thanks for the heads up on the link!!
It works wonders.
Here are some before and afters from a few shoots I did last year.

The last shot was processed as a 16bit tiff. The surface blur took a few minutes. Just have to be patient :)

Wonder what they would look like printed on metallic paper.

I get an error when I click on this link for some reason. Can you email it to me?

This thread is 5 years old!
Yes it is, but here's a link to a page with a valid download link to a FreakyDetail action. I'm not sure if it's the same one referred to by the OP but it's based on the same source:

It runs OK in CS3 but I haven't played with it seriously.

Cheers

Brian

Yes it is. I never paid attention until afterwards.

Did you see my post above yours for a current link to the action?

Cheers

Brian
I will host the action, so other people can also enjoy and download the action.

I will post the link to the bottom of this thread.
